Okay we have Matthew, Mark, Luke and John will you accept their testimony? Thallus did write a confirmation of the crucifixtion of Jesus and he also was wrote of the supernatural darkness, which really is more of a testimony in my opinion. It is one of the earliest historical records of the darkness.

Flavius Josephus a Jewish historian (Antiquites of the Jews) wrote, Upon an indictment by leading members of our society, Pilate sentenced him to the cross."

A Roman Government Inscription from the Reign of Nero that was found in the ruins of Marquofiae in the Roman province of Lusitania (ancient Portugal) that is dated to the reign of Emperor Nero who died in A.D. 68 reads: TO NERO CLAUDIUS CAESAR, AUGUSTUS, HIGH PRIEST, FOR CLEARING THE PROVINCE OF ROBBERS, AND THOSE WHO TAUGHT MANKIND A NEW KIND OF SUPERSTITION.

    Pliny the Younger is another.

My non acceptance of most of the bible is another topic.

The nero inscription is vague. Does it use jesus name? I don't know which the superstition was that he introduced. My point here was to illustrate how little secular contemporary mention there is of jesus, that is, writings about him outside the bible. There is only a page or two, in total, at most.

I didn't mean to discourage you. I looked at everything without fear or faith. It was tough. That's it for me for now. I need to sleep. Goodnight.

    SaintS,

Thanks for discussing this with me and trying to have an open mind. I understand that it can be hard.

As for your previous reply that listed Phologen, Josephus, and Justin Martyr, I did not list them and do not know who they are. Does that mean that you added to my list?

As for Matthew, Mark, Luke and John they are also an account of Jesus' life.

These other accounts are from those outside of Christianity and they are only confirming the accounts of the apostles. Regardless if you think that there should be more or not, you must agree that they support the evidence of the Gospels. These men were not fiction authors they were historians researching and printing facts as they found them. They all have one thing in common though, they were all pagans.

How about the Old Testaments prophisies about him and how they were fulfilled with his birth from the line of David, and the sacrifice of the son, just as Abraham was to sacrifice his son, and his death, and God sending the Jews a king that they would reject just as they rejected Jesus. All of this was fortold in the Old Testament. How do you explain this.? Or do you maintain that Jesus did not exist?

The Nero inscription does not use Jesus' name. I guess you could say that it is circumstantial evidence.

Anyway, goodnight and thanks for the discussion.

The big bang did not create life. It took about 8 or 9 billion years for it to develop. That's for here on earth anyways. Who knows how long for other planets. You wouldn't expect to use a 50 year old text book if you were taking a science class would you? Therefore why would you base your scientific beliefs on a book that's a few thousand years old? There's way to much evidence showing how we have evolved over millions of years.
As for the exsistence of Jesus, yes, he did exist. Was he as holy as everyone makes him out to be? Weren't all the gospels written long after he died? Also, aren't all the translations we have from a few hundred years after that? Seems like a pretty good chance for folklore to work its way in there if you ask me.

Cindy. Dear ignorant girl. Still wanting others to hand you a nice package you can slot into the hole that would be left if you abandoned your superstitious underpinnings! This intellectual/emotional laziness is bred right into Christians. (huge sigh)Faith as a substitute for reason and common sense. ICK.

It is NOT my job to do the work for you. I have no 'mission' to convince you that your superstitious twaddle is in fact twaddle. I have no intention of engaging in the mental masturbation that you frightened Christers invatiably start to practice when your sandy foundation is shaken.

I merely suggest that you start by finding out WHEN the 'Gospels' were written and realize that NONE of those writers were really eyewitnesses to Jesus' life. Then do some research and find out how many earlier religions had a virgin birth, crucified 'savior' and most of the other motifs attributed to Jesus. Start with Gilgamesh...

Then make a visit to one of the many fine 'origins' newsgroups for a crash course in scientific inquiry.

If you prefer to remain secure in the ignorance of blind faith, then ENJOY! It does take hard work to find an ethical baseline based on decency and common sense rather than the fearmongering guilt that controls Bibliolatrists. If you prefer that relatively brainless high control, then stick with ignorance and its inherent smugness.

Just don't expect others, who have done the tough work, to hand you a nice new salvation package to fit into the empty space where a spine should be.

Take a look at old TommyPoo...he's the poster boy for the worst Christer mindset. If you prefer living in that miasma of supernatural crap with guys like him, who am I to disabuse you of your jones for punishment?

This is directed to you and your kind, satanist.

I have been given authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions (Satan’s demons in type), and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt me. Luke 10:19

Therefore, Satanist and all like you on this forum, I come against YOU in the Name of My Lord Jesus Christ. I take my authority over you and your kind, and I cover you with the blood of my lord Jesus Christ that you may not work, I bind you in the Name Of Jesus Christ.

I ask my heavenly Father to send warring angels against you, to send your powers of darkness and your unclean spirits to the pit. I ask the Holy Spirit from my Father in heaven to enable this now and all that is necessary for the binding and counteracting of your demonic powers.

Heavenly Father, I ask that all readers on this forum not of this darkness to be protected by the blood of Jesus Christ.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, I cancel out all curses, affectations, and prayers in the name of Satan, that you have imposed upon whomever within your life times and back 20 generations of your ancestry.

I bring the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ between us and you and your kind.

Note Satanist that “My Lord Jesus Christ has spoiled all principalities and powers, and made a show of them openly and triumphed over them in Himself. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I claim for Christians all that victory for those in this forum that would receive it today.”

I reject all the insinuations, accusations and temptations of your satanic mouth and your Satanic Father. I affirm that the Word of God is true, and I choose for those who would receive it, to live today in the light of God’s Word. I choose, Heavenly Father, for those who would receive it, to live in obedience to you and desire close fellowship with you. Amen. Praise be to the Father and his Son and the Holy Spirit.

    TommyPoo,
Wow, after you wrote, amazingly enough, nothing changed here. I'm still the same. Guess god isn't taking your orders after all.
    Asshole.

    I don't need to fight
    To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven.

    Dearest Brother Poole--

I replied to one of your posts some days ago and was disappointed to see you had not replied. I wondered if perhaps you may have missed my contribution to one of your threads and so I will re-post it here for you.

    Hi Thomas Poole--

Thanks for going to all the trouble to post all those delightful scriptures for our enlightenment. I was saddened to see you did not include any of my personal favorites so I will include them here for you as a personal favor. Mind you I have time limitations and can only provide a partial list at this time.

Genesis 38:6-10 As I am sure you are aware Brother Thomas this is a sample of God's undying love for us. Judah's son Er was displeasing to God so God put him to death. Then Judah told his other son Onan to go get Er's wife pregnant. Onan disobeyed at the last moment and he soon felt the wrath of God too. I mean hey--if you want to waste your semen on the earth than you must die and that is that! There is to be no squabbling over contradictory scriptures in Leviticus about lying with your brother's wife--no, no, God doesn't play that game.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 I like this tough-love approach to parenting. It says here that if you have a son who is rebellious then you take him to the elders who will drag him out to be stoned to death. This is a fine example for the other aspiring rebellious sons to reconsider their actions. The love here is so evident I can almost feel it.

2Chronicles 13:16-18 This is a shining example of how powerful believing in God can make you. Here Abijah was able to slaughter 500,000 of God's own people which taught them a lesson in humilty. One can never be too humble.

Isiah 13:9-16 This shows that the day of Jehovah will be "cruel both with fury and burning anger". I get chills and thrills reading about how all the folks found will be killed by the sword, children dashed to pieces and the women raped by God's people. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling all over.

I could go on and on because there are so many examples of God's love for us. I will merely conclude that we know all these things to be true and worthy of knowing because 2Timothy 3:16 tells us so. "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight for disciplining in righteousness." As far as I am concerned we should fall to our knees and thank God everyday for such enlightenment.

    Peace be with you brother--
    Julie

From Tommie P to Miss Mommie D

I falter. I should be forgiven.
Have mercy upon my poor soul.
    I seek to love thee,
but thy bite like a mad dog.
    Thy foaming words challege the
    thunder of the heavens.

I, but a poor mortal only seek to
share the wisdom of thy maker.
Surely, thou has mercy within somewhere.

You needest me for I am kind in love.
Receive please my flower of inquiry.
Couldest thou love just a bit
Those who seek to love thee.
Thou mind is thine, but thou heart belongs
to all, if you would let it be so.

I love you Mommie D and I know you like me a little.
