Remaining in ignorance, we could have continued not planning for retirement.
we could have continued feeling guilty about our service not being enough
we could have continued feeding mind-control nonsense into our minds
we could have continued blowing vacations on DC and assemblies.
we could have continued bothering people on Saturday morning.
we could have continued remaining distant from loving family members
who only wanted to help us regain our freedom.
we could have continued shunning grandchildren/grandparents/brothers/mothers.
our depressed members could have continued contemplating suicide.
our children could have continued being ostracized at school and missing
birthday parties and grown up with major complexes.

Even if I had one foot in the grave, I would have wanted to be told. Others may want to remain in ignorance,
but not me. I am sure others can continue to add to the list.

We would not have had "the prospect of everlasting life" - we would have had the false belief that we were going to live forever. Is it better to believe in a lie rather than face the truth of our own mortality and short life span? I think not

A person who is aware of his probable life span can plan accordingly, set up a pension, start a family at a chosen time, knowing that age is inevitable. A person labouring under false hopes of eternity will postpone these things and live to regret it.

That is just a practical way of looking at it and ignores the crushing disappointment and regrets of later years when ones hopes have been dashed by other circumstances.

Somebody said " where ignorance is bliss,'Tis folly to be wise." but I favour Martin Luther King's statement " Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. "

This reminds me of the "Cypher" Character in the movie "The Matrix". He feels sorry for having left the Matrix and at the end takes the pill that lets him forget and gets back into the matrix - which also means that his brain is manipulated while his energy is sucked from him. IMHO, you must be either naive or wicked to stay in the borg. There is a high risk to end up wrecked even if you stay happily in it.

Many southern U.S. plantation owners felt that the blacks were worse off after the war.
They didn't have jobs and educations. Now there was no kind white family to care for
them and provide a roof over their heads.

If there is a grain of truth in that, and we reason that they should have just stayed as
slaves without freedom given to them, then today they would still be slaves without
education and freedom. They would still be whipped for whistling at white women.

Freedom has it's costs, but it leads to much better things down the road.

I am a slave to the WTS no more. I have lost much but will gain tenfold more.

    Dear OnTheWayOut:

    Excellent point and example. However,
who would like to weigh and measure
the other side of the argument?

"If I stayed ignorant, I would be
    surrounded by family and friends
and have the prospect for ever-
    lasting life."

    Respectfully,

    Richard

Wondering whether it's better to be ignorant or not is stupid.

    Dear Minimus:

The article is designed to measure and
weigh both sides of an issue. True, to
some individuals such as yourself the
question may seem "dumb", however, do
not assume everyone feels the same.

Besides, if you really do not care for
the article a simple left click of the
    mouse will do.

    Respectfully,

    Richard

I think the real answer to the question can be gotten to via another question. Are you happier now than when you were in the org.?

I for one am happier now to know the truth and to be free of the demands of the org. I don't think that many really look forward to paradise anyway, i think that it's another one of those things that we believed because we were indoctrinated to keep looking to the new system.

It would have been better if they had not even started that organization. But since they did, I'm glad I'm aware now of their inconsolable allegiance to rules ,and the fact they are a cult. It made me see I never want to be controlled again
