Would It Have Been Better To Remain In Ignorance About The Organization?

If you've got even just a few extra brain cells that others, it is almost impossible to feel comfortable in a state of ignorance:

Me???? Have extra brain cells??? WHOO HOO!!!

For example, when something doesn't add up, it creates discomfort.

I agree. That happened to me years ago. I had lots of unexplainable questions until I started digging around a bit.

The discomfort I feel now with knowing and losing my family is far greater than the discomfort I had before finding out the truth about the organization.

    Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

I agree: Some times in life there is discomfort either way. However, I'd rather have discomfort arising from being true to myself, than discomfort arising from knowingly living a lie.

    Rich:

If you are asking if it would have been better for you if you never heard of the religion, nobody can really answer this question. For example: what if you never heard of the organization and you became a drug addict and died from an overdose, etc. In this instance it would not be good to have been in ignorance because being in the organization you would not have had a drug habit and would have led a clean life. See where I am going with this. You cannot know what MAY have happened if you followed another course in life. It can only be speculation.

So there are two sides to the story about how ignorance is bliss. In another instance, somebody is sexually molested in the religion and has their life ruined and attempts suicide. Is it good in this instance that they DID hear of the organization???

I hope you are not asking this question because deep down inside you are still hostage to the belief that you have "turned away from the faith, etc." and feel that if you never joined you would not have this dilemma. I hope this isn't so.

My EXPERIENCE while in told me there was something wrong with the borg. It's hard to be ignorant when experience touches you. Learning what I have learned from research only backed up my experience and helped free me mentally from believing I couldn't live without it anyway.
