Would It Have Been Better To Remain In Ignorance About The Organization?

For me personally, no. I went out looking for the truth, I didn't stumble upon it by accident. I wanted to know before I wasted another minute of my life at the meetings or in field service whether or not it was in vain. Isn't it better to experience all the things life has to offer, rather than wait around for something that's never going to happen?

"isn't this question a flawed one?"

    lol.....

Minimus and the Wanderer are lining themselves up at their Battle Stations, questions in hand. The war of the Online Questioner is about to begin.

The tactic of the Wanderer consists in blanket bombing his opponent with fluffy blue fonts, hoping to bury the Minimus under a plethora of perfectly formatted words. Somewhere in the middle of this heap of words perfectly hidden, is the question, waiting to explode. Tick....tick....tick..

The Minimus, the battle-honed veteran of many Question Wars, targets the Wanderer's ammunition question dump with a small, perectly aimed and powerful missile-question and launches it while the Wanderer is struggling with font color.

The Wanderer, wrong-footed, drops his question and ducks for cover, hiding in ambush behind some burnt out platitudes, but it is too late. The question-missile fired by the Minimus has found its target and all that is left of the Wanderer's question is a mutilated and mangled pile of blue and orange fonts, their life blood oozing onto the battlefield.

    FIN

With all due respect to some of the responses, I sometimes think it would be better to have remained ignorant. I could still have those relationships with family members that I can't have now. That's the only reason, though.

May I put my 2 cents in? I've stopped trying to change my sister.

It depends on your personality and/or how long you were in it, IMO. For someone over 50 years old and raised in it, it's probably best they remain ignorant. It's like my sister told me: It's not part of her life, it IS her life. For her to find out the truth about the truth, it would devastate her emotionally and psychologically. She's not equipped with a youthful vision of a better future by "knowing." For her, it's probably better that she remain ignorant. Her social life, her spiritual life, even much of her psychological makeup is derived from the congregation and her belief it's the truth. She's also got the kind of personality well-suited to be controlled and lead by a bunch of holier-than-thou men.

There will always be those who will choose the red pill and those who will choose the blue pill. It's about your character, personality, curiosity, courage, independence, and a host of other adjectives.

So, my answer would be that for some, it is better. For others, ignorance is not bliss.

I'd rather know the truth, no matter how painful, than believe a lie, no matter how blissful.
