We share housework responsibilities. Works great.

    Men can do housework?

Unfortunately some of us don't have a choice because we live alone. Women have seen through my shallowness and have given up on me.

I actually don't mind doing laundry. I went out and bought a new front loading washing machine and dryer in December, because the old 40 year old machines I had were just beating the crap out of my clothes. I also bought a new iron and ironing board, but I'm having trouble getting the hang of ironing, especially my shirts.

    Yep..

When I was married I always helped out around the house, but I never did laundry! When she left I was at a loss, I looked at the washer and dryer like an alien space ship! But after a while, I conquered them and laundry is a snap! Heehee

brinjen, i do all the cooking and most of the cleaning at my house. it's not that i have a lazy wife, she works sometimes until 10:00 at night, and i get off at 4:30. it's not fair to her to have to do anything when she gets home. so, yes, there are some guys out here that do household chores.

Forget love, forget the water bills, forget their incompetence, you are doing your sons a great disservice by not handing over this this chore. If you don't take action soon, they will grow up thinking that every woman does the laundry "out of love". My daughter took over the chore from me at age twelve, because she knew she could do it better. My son took longer, but he was doing his own by sixteen.

I was not raising two children to be domestic incompetents, as my mother did to me out of a false sense of identity.

Nowadays, I've maybe done four loads in five years. I happily handed this chore over to my hubby in exchange for bringing home the bacon. I get him the latest stain removers, automatic fabric softeners, and fancy soaps he wants. He, also, tends to wash one item at a time. I don't mind, the exchange is worth it.

We shouldn't complain so much, it's the machines that do the work and not us women or men. Imagine what it was like for women in the past when they had to do all the washing by hand it must have been a real chore especially for the ones that had large families which were common in the past.

Nowadays there are washing machines, dish washers, vacuum cleaners, food processors, microwave ovens etc and life is much easier.
