May I ask, why is that important?
For me that's important because as a father, I would not want a bunch of people who I didn't know giving my minor child advise. That being said, I'd like to welcome you to the site. I empathise with you. I too have recently (within the last year) begun to question what the organization was thinking. What caused me to question things is when i found out that the Watchtower Society had been a member of th United Nations. I didn't want to believe it and actually wrote the society to ask if it was true, and if it was, how could they do it? Their reply shocked and dissapointed me. Not only did they admit that they were members for 9 years but they tried to justify it. That started me questioning things and here i am. I'm still in, never disfelloshipped or disassociated but my meeting attendence is poor. I can't help but feel that we have been following men's will and not God's.

I too hope you decide to stay. There is a huge variety of individuals on this board so don't be surprised to get many different viewpoints on one particular topic.
In reference to your question about why these changes are being made, we can only really speculate. Because no information regarding policy making within the Watchtower is ever made public the average member is left in the dark about many things regarding how decisions are made at headquarters.
With that said, there is a lot of information that comes through this site in particular. Most of what goes on within the Watchtower is known here before it ever reaches JWs in general (i.e. governing body appointments/deaths, doctrinal changes, bethel policies, ect.)
With this in mind it makes me think of a letter that was sent out to the body of elders a little while back. The letter specifically told the Elders that there where to many Watchtower Study conductors that where putting in their own material and getting away from the paragraphs. It went as far as to say that there should be no extra questions given than those which are in the magazines.
This makes it seem that there is a desire amongst those in Brooklyn to maintain a greater control over what exactly is going on from the platform at the Kingdom Hall. This may be one of the reasons for the recent change. -

There's an older sister in our hall who is like a grandmother to me, she's in her eighties. I trust her and confide in her all the time. I told her I was thinking of coming here and she told me to go ahead and try it. She said I might be surprised. She was right. I held my breath for a couple hours now just waiting to see what would happen all that did happen though was that I received a welcome and some fellow feeling. Thank you.
She did say though that the best thing was to taste and leave. I wish the world could be what we all wish it could be. I wish we could all be good friends. I wish there was no wars and everyone had enough food and a good home to live in. I wish many things!
I wish the Society would give us more food and spiritual clothing to cover ourselves. I wish I were a man and maybe then I could make changes for the better.
Well, good night everybody. One last wish! Wish I could meet some of you! My "grandmother" would say though, "enough wishin' girl time to get some sleep."

Thank you for having the courage for posting on this forum. You are doing now being an active JW, what it took me 8 years to do. It is refreshing to read posts from people who went through exactly the same things I did growing up. WE ALL know how you are feeling. Please keep posting. Unlike what you may have heard, we are not in league with the devil. (joke)

I too was raised as a "JW" bought it all until I found out they harbor pedophiles. (Dateline May 2002) They df'd the victims that told their store AFTER the show aired. Those victims exposed the WTBS because they didn't get the help they needed and didn't want other young children or teens to be sexual abuse victims either. I am sure Jehovah is NOT happy having his name attached to "pedophiles".

Hi there, there seems to be a down turning effect in how the WTS. is about to operate itself in the coming future, perhaps it is the information on the inter-net thats exposing the corrupt lying business men that started this religion, this sort of information is most damaging since it is open for everyone to see and there is plenty of it. They can control the information within the organization but they can not control anything out side of it and this is where they are stumbling and weakening its structure. Since most modern established countries now have the inter-net this is posing to be a very big problem for themselves. Since it was formed on lies, deceiving coercion toward the general public, perhaps it should crumble and die, the damaging effect it has had to the many personal lives is enormous and profound. I'd have to say that the only thing that it has accomplished is perhaps the enormous amounts of power into a few mens hands that otherwise they would have never had a chance to obtain and have made millions off those said lies.
