You know what pisses me off? When I tell you I don't know about something, and I'm disbelieved. If you don't want to add any credence to a board because of various reasons, fine but don't suggest that I know something when I tell you specifically I don't.

    Simon,

    That one young, ordinary man

lol...I was speaking in a geologic terms.

    HS

Yeah, LOL. My younger brother calls me "old man green" and when I tell the kids I didn't have XBoxes or anything when I was little they ask "is it because they didn't have batteries or electricity in the olden days?". I'm going to give up, he he he.

On another note, did you and your wife move to Canada? When did that happen? I missed that news! Welcome to the continent.

Yes, we moved over in February this year and have just moved again into our own home. We're all enjoying it and have settled in well (including the kids which is a relief).

    So far so good!

I do believe that different boards can and should co-exist, without the mud-slinging between each other. As I see it, there are at least 4 different markets for exJW's: (1) Those who like no censorship whatsoever and are willing to put up with a lot of bashing from other posters, (2) those who like a civil board without the bashing but like to swear a bit and put somewhat racy posts up, (3) those who are more civil still, and are offended by swearing and dirty pictures and jokes, and (4) those who want a more Christian forum.

I agree. I think too that people confuse 'censorship' with 'standards'. Yes, there are things we don't allow to be posted but it isn't because we are trying to hide anything (censorship) it is because we are trying to maintain some standards of behaviour. We are not trying to be 4 or 3, we prefer to aim for 3-2 (i.e., we're not total prudes but like a bit of restraint otherwise people get carried away and go too far).

The analogy I've always likes is restaraunts - if you like sea-food, go to a sea-food place but if you like steak, go to a steak house. Just don't walk into a sea-food place and throw a hissy fit that they don't serve steak, picket the entrance, throw stones at the owner for 'denying you meat' and so on!

Another example is at most companies. If you send round smutty emails you could face disciplinary action or be sacked. Is this censorship? No.

We like Canada! It is a much nicer place than the UK which is going down the toilet a bit (it will probably improve now we've left LOL).
