JW's can pose thoughts and comments, but have no way to back them up. They just dissapear.

Hey folks: now we know how all of those householder felt when we promised them we would call back on them next week.

Remember, its between you and Jehovah God. Its easy to blast out a tough post, but where do we stand before God?
    Take care everyone

That exactly the point MRP, do you think God is going to ask you what organisation you belonged to? I have not stopped believing in Jehovah God. I don't feel I need an organisation of MEN to tell me what to believe and what to read and how long my skirt needs to be. That is why God gave me a conscience. What if the witnesses have it wrong what on earth are you going to say when asked "Who do you say I am?" Matt16:13-20. Well the GB told me I don't need to ask those questions and ponder the answers because I went to 5 meeting a week? Do you really think that is going to cut it?

Please explain why in the NWT John 20:24,25 speaks of nails in Jesus hands. If he was killed on the stake why would there be more that one nail through his hands? Please don't tell me the other was through his feet cause that scripture does not say anything about feet at all.

If John 17:3 speaks of only one God why does the NWT in John 1:1 speak of Jesus as "a god". Does that mean there are two God's in heaven?

I beg you to answer these questions from the bible and not from publications written by the WBTS because to me the highest authority is the bible because it is God's word. Many witnesses come here and post and don't answer direct questions, are you going to be the first?

    MRP,

first of all welcome! I think you do have some valid points, like everyone else. That is a fault I have, I always think others have a measure of right when they express themselves. I do not believe in human stupidity but I do believe biases totally influence our thinking. For this reason people having the same experience/information may come to different conclusions.

I have not read all the posts in the two threads, but still I could see a number of good questions that have been asked to you. I also have two:

Could you ever imagine that your beliefs could be wrong?

How do you think other religious/non-religiuos people would answer this same question?

If you permit me, I would strongly advise you to read a book entitled: why we believe what we believe.

Arthur, I imagine the householder was quite HAPPY!

Welcome to the forum, MRP. You sound like you're at a crossroads, a place where many of us have been. While I admit I don't understand some of your comments, you did try to make us think about some things; and most of us encourage challenges and looking at things from another perspective.

I did read through all of the posts to be sure I was not going to be repeating. So here is what I have to say that I don't think anyone else said: If you and others are perfectly happy being Jehovah's Witnesses, then you are in the right place for you. At the same time, those of us who have chosen a different path are in the right place for us at this time.

Your sincere efforts to persuade us that we are wrong are not altogether "off the wall." I have been wrong about many things and will continue to be. But I will base my decisions on what I decide after examining the facts (and I may not have all of the facts) I find and what is in my own and others' best interests. I will never again give up that freedom unless it is by force. Nobody in Brooklyn is in my life or knows what issues I face each day; therefore, neither they nor anyone else is in a better position than I am to decide what I "should" do in any situation.

Learning to make one's own decisions and accept the consequences and taking responsibility for one's own behavior and feelings (not blaming demons or someone else) are well worth the effort.

    Regards,

    SandraC

All I can say, you must be a young person who knows nothing about 1975 and 1914. Or you are posting from somewhere over in Egypt on a river.

But God has always had his people. We make mistakes, but overall there is a mountain of evidence that there is a truth and that we have it. In a few weeks I will probably have that part on the Service Meeting that says not to form all these independent study groups. Have I accomplished anything?

What you wrote is part of the "Brainwashing" the Watchtower instills into your head with their magizines and books and assemblies. Over and Over again and again.

"overall there is a mountain of evidence"

I think a mountain has been made out of a mole hill.

actually, that mole hill is more like a mole turd, not even enough for a hill.
