I have three kids myself and I worry alot about them ..having said this, I think you should reconsider the approach you are taking with your 14 year old...you cannot control all the circumstances around him or you will raise a person who is unable to make decisions on his own and exercise his thinking ability. Provide him with the information and let him decide for himself who is good association and who is not. It is a skill he will have to know the rest of his life so better start practicing now with some guidance...

o.k. and why is this addressed to Barbara Anderson??? In all honesty, why is her opinion so much more valuable than anyone else????

"Jim Penton . . . others of his ilk"???

I think Deborahs_Song is a JW trying in a sneaky way to convince non-trinitarian folks on this board that there is no "truth" or "wholesome association" outside the WT. She chose the name "Barbara Anderson" and capitalization for her topic just to be sure she (or he?) gets noticed.

Something is not right with that she has posted.

New account. Only post. No replies.

    I vote Troll for deborahs_song.

She seems more interested in preaching her gospel than any concern for her ''son''.

I will give her the benny of the doubt till proven otherwise - for now at least. I have missed that call before and found egg on my face.

That said - and given the amount of time that has expired since post 1 of 1 was made, eclipse might have it nailed.

I noticed that highly judgemental phrase as well. If she had ever had the pleasure to spend time with Jim Penton personally, as I have, she would not be so quick to ride her high horse. Jim and I do not hold to the same belief systems at all, but we respect the other's right to believe as we see fit.

On the other hand, if Deborahs_Song really wants a non-triune God to worship, she could always look up the nearest synagogue or her local chapter of Jews for Jesus.

    Hello Barbara,

I commend your effort to correct the Watchtower Society. God knows they need it!

Are you still a non-trinitarian? I believe Jim Penton (as well some others of his ilk who have chosen to leave the Watchtower) remains so.

Do you believe an xJW couple who remains non-trinitarian can, on their own, give their children sufficient Christian association apart from a formal religion? If not, what religious association do you suggest? Can xJW non-trinitarian teens keep spiritually alive though friendless?

If you believe so please answer this sincere request for help. How do I supply my 14 year old son with religious non-trinitarian association apart from the Watchtower? There are no kids in our neighborhood who are interested in religion no less in non-trinitarian religion.

I would like to encourage my son to remain a non-trinitarian Christian, a Christian who does not get involved in wars and politics, a Christian who follows the Christ. If he were 25 that would not be a problem he could stand on his own but at 14 he needs friends and he needs spiritual fellowship.

There is a dichotomy here that has not been addressed, how to keep our children in the non-trinitarian faith without friends and association outside of family. I hope you have some common sense advice for us.

To be fair, there are many people outside of the JWs who prefer to follow rather than lead.

    Outnfree,

Yes, there is pressure to excel beyond our limits at times. You are right about this. I wish it was different but there is nothing I can do about it. There is a sister in our hall who wants dearly to pioneer but she cannot find the way, I'll try to relay to her your experience and feelings as best as I can.

There is a strange ambience to her post she directs it specifically at B Anderson of all people and focuses strongly on the trinity doctrine. If she is still so obsessed with tedious doctrinal details like this then she didn't get over the JW mentality of squeeky clean doctrinology.

It's as if she is trying to blame her for not finding a suitable spiritual environment for her son after leaving the dubs.
