A problem arises when believers assume that non-believers are God-haters.
Many non-believers would like to believe.
But the notion of believing in something just because it makes you feel better is silly.

I have a great reluctance to put my faith in anything but my personal experience. Not wanting the JW experience to be my only experience with spirituality or religion, I became a bit of a religious tourist to see how the other half lived, as it were. I'm glad I did this because it revealed a lot about what humans need and want. After a while I began my own experiments with prayer to see if anything answered.
Does God reveal things? Yes. But it is based on my own subjective experiences. What I do know is that I prayed, I asked, and coincidence, after coincidence, after coincidence happened in such a way that I came to a belief that I had connected with God.
just assuming that all believers (from theist to gnostic to agnostic) have each in being just of one of them have the same views and reasons to believe can be called silly ... (the question is what have we explored by now before to state anything when we can't take this into consideration?).
We are all differents, and will all have differents experiences even when it is to come to the same conclusion ... it's not paradoxal, it's just logical because of our differences ... So whatever someone tell us people or God (means to me = Everything) I don't think that it have to be the same thing.
about arguments : Every fallacy, or proof needs to contain valid argurments - now how do you make the difference in between the two if you only jump like - ho this is what I think - or this looks so logic without really taking a deep look at it.
The other day John Doe took the time - because you need time, a sharp brain and the envy to get into showing the fallacy of an argument - because fallacy (some kind of sophism) is about being logic without total logic it only get those who don't want to think about think ... does that remind you somehting? ...
That doesn't mean that JD was more right than T (you right to believe whatever you want it your responsability) but JD had nothing to try to incultate to anyone ... and he did the job that we should do before to just agree without getting the point about the validity of an argument contextually and globally ...
Also don't get me wrong : using fallacies is either conscious or not ... but it doesn't change what it is ... and to know about if it is a fallacy or not you have to examine the question for real ...
There goes Terry........AGAIN! With his ruined and diseased mind...(and the WTBTS is at fault...the reason he is spouting his diatribes once again) trying to convince all who happen upon his posts......he wants soooooo bad for the rest of us to believe in his own belief system. He has nothing else in his life to look forward to.
His goal is to misalign everything that just might have a spark of truth.........or Christian in nature.
His only claim to intellegence is the fact that he works in a bookstore and does a lot of reading. (or is this in the past Terry)
Such a shame! He is very intelligent but hasn't gotten beyond the pain and hate of his past.
Terry..........right now.........I don't give a Shite if I am barred from JWD for this post. You want to spout your crap..........but dismiss anyone here who believes in God or the Bible.
Why don't you start your own little cult and see how many others might be willing to follow you.
I think at your age.....you should be doing something positive in your life for a change. You sound sooooo much like some immature 20 year olds just weaning from their momma's JW brainwashing teats. Why not grow up and at least acknowledge what others believe instead of constantly using this forum to browbeat everyone as to your hatred and new unbelief
Why not just stand up and give reasons why everything I say is wrong?
Is that too much trouble?
Guess what I'm going to answer about that ...(your last post at 16:25)
you are tiring Terry ... and he don't need to ... those who want to think for themself just do ... sometimes we feel to answer, make our point clear and sometimes we just don't.
Also if you put all your time to try to validate your point of view, you have to understand that it is not what everybody wants or care to do (since most don't need to absolutely validate their points - maybe because they know that people do think for themself anyway) !
Also remember that most people do not answer to most topics, they just read them (and get to whatever point they want from it) or not.
Sad Emo:Waiting an inspired reply to my comments on creation/evolutionary order which seem to have been bypassed
Hey Emo, do you like the company you keep? The only country in the world (polled) with a greater resistance to accepting Evolution is TURKEY!
Did I say anywhere that I'm a creationist?
Back to the question-
You haven't addressed the order I wrote - was it correct? - if so, how could ancient mankind have known that order?
Terry thank you for this post, it really is very interesting! I am with Mary, in that I do believe in a Creative force of some sort, which started everything, put it in motion. I do not however believe in the bible god, after researching the bible with an open mind, the once cherished notion of inerrancy and revelation just falls apart. I don't believe that there is a almighty God who is directing and monitoring all activities here on earth (look at the crap that goes on), or that he needs our worship, I think we are here to live this experience and make with it what we will, I try to focus on the positive as much as I can, enjoy this experience and leave this earth in a better way than I found it. There are things we will never know, but I choose to use my own reasoning to dictate what I will and will not believe, but that's just me!

You need a context and you are denying there IS a context.
What is written in Genesis, (the order of Creation), appears twice in TWO DIFFERENT orders. They can't BOTH be correct.
