SIAMSA- Your guess is as good as mine. I always assume most of the JWD posters here are telling the truth about situations, why would I doubt otherwise ? I always assume the best about my fellow posters, until they prove themselves otherwise . I'm sure this probably happened ! Weirder things than his account of things have happened, why not? The key to the WT$ power in disfelloshiping is that before hand we are conditioned to meekly accept it. Think about it, we are told that people are only D'fd for wrong doing and being unrepentant. We are taught that A sign of possible repentance is to sit quietly while you are being read off. They condition us ahead of time for our discipline so we will not react in a contentious fashion.
What do you think would happen if someone well known was to cry out in such a fashion? How do you think the congregation would react if when someone was being D'fd, the person stood up and loudly stated 'I object'?
Everyone has watched court shows and maybe seen live court cases. Perhaps such an action could trigger the congregations sense of justice and fair play. Perhaps they will wont to hear the person out.
The key is this never happens. The person D'fd either does not show up or leaves quietly after the announcement. This is exactly the way we have been conditioned to act. The act of D'fing is the biggest scam in the world, in the double sense that it is three men judging your 'heart' condition and a whole congregation of people accepting said judgment. -

I've also heard that the Churches of Christ were involved in a big defamation lawsuit over DF'ings, so they can't practice DF'ing in the way they had previously done. The COC members that told me this were surprised the JWs still get away with it. Hmmmmm.
There does appear to be a precedent set, if this info is correct... -

I think lawsuits against elders on the committee, naming them personally, will be the change. I know all about the chances of actually "winning." It's
not the winning, it's the sh*t you put them through. It is all they will think about. The FEAR of losing everything, The fear of being cross examined about personal
things in their own lives; the fear of their secrets being exposed; the fear of facing a jury of "wordly peolpe."
I personally will sue them into the next life if they ever screw with me. And I will do it again, and again, and again until i either win or run out of money.
Get them personally. That's what will hurt.

There is something called the "shame factor" that keeps people in line. If some taboo gets broken, then there is often a backlash as repressed people act out the forbidden thing.

I have been reading Metatron's posts since I came to JWD and he has become one of my favorite posters. I have YET to read anything I would think of as untruthful or contrived in what he has written. I consider him a balanced and often thought-provoking poster. The topic was not one that should have been followed with such mean-spirited remarks. It is making me feel bad to see him being hoisted up on a pole and having shots fired at him like this.
