    Rosalee - I understand what you're saying.

BUT, you'd think that God would have managed to rise above such pettiness and would direct his only true religion on the Earth to behave much as Jesus supposedly did in rescuing the adulterous woman!

Given ALL people behave generally in a certain pattern...you'd think the WT society, being driven by God himself would be different, but perhaps God is prejudiced also?

I am of the opinion the odds are stacked against women, but I dont have any hard evidence, just a gut feeling.

They need men to fill positions in the congregation, and sometimes pickings can be a bit slim, whereas women just make up the numbers (the women are a large army) and are therefore dispensible.

I heard of a woman being df'ed because someone found out she had an STD. The elders decided the ONLY way she could have got it was through adultery. Turned out a couple of years later it was her husband who had been immoral and passed it onto her. I remember the society saying that all the work she had done to get reinstated was just a 'refining of her faith'.

This topic reminds me of the movie I saw on tv a while ago ...Town Without Pity.

    No, it isn't very pretty

    What a town without pity

    Can do.

    No, God is not prejudiced.

    His organization isn't either.

    Sinful man is.

    God not prejudiced?

Apparantly he decided that all WOMEN would be dominated by their husbands because ONE woman ate an apple!

I'd call that massive prejudice and possibly massive injustice!

In my experience there are several layers of "justice"

    1) Elders and their families
    2) Generational families
    3) Single parent families
    4) Families with an UBM

Single witnesses are evaluated at which group above they are friends with. The closer to the top, the more likely you are to be judged repentant for your sins.

Who physically runs God's "earthly organization", a divine being or sinful man?

You know what Jesus said about blind guides.

Gill ... if you think women are considered second class by God ... why are some of them counted in the 144,000?

'Let he who has no sin throw the first stone!'

Not sure, nor do I care too much, but I thought that that text was spurious.

Perhaps one of our resident scholars( Leolaia or Narkissos) could be of assistance?

Well I'm no scholar, but yes, there is suspicion amongst scholars that the above verse was not part of the original Christian writings, although many bibles include it as a 'footnote':

Ten to 12.5 per cent of the New Testament is possibly tainted. "There is general agreement that 7/8 to 9/10 of the text of the NT is critically above suspicion; ..." -- John L. McKENZIE, Dictionary of the Bible, 1968, Geoffrey Chapman, London, page 883 b.

but perhaps God is prejudiced also?

    Yes.

The Judeo-Christian-Islamic God portrayed in the Bible/ Qur'an thinks of women as livestock at worst and as breeders at best.
