Exxon is a publicly traded company. If you want to share profits, it's pretty simple. Buy stock.
Well that sure solves the problem! Buy a couple of Exxon stocks to offset them jacking up profits to record levels! John Doe - will my dividends from Exxon make up for the extra costs in my heating oil, gas and propane?
Unconfused, that would depend on how good you are with your money and how wise your investments are. Point is, Corporations are publicly owned. People like you and me own them. They are not some big, faceless, evil entity. If you don't like it, well then, come up with your own energy and transportation system. This is a free country after all.
"Oh sure, you can get a little egg that sips gas."
Which came first, the "chicken, the egg or the "truck?""stock tickers dvn, fto and kgc (gold miner) are better than exxom, at this time...

Publicly owned not controled. The record books are littered with companies long gone because the board room raided all of the earnings stiffing investors out of their money.
It needs to be higher still to really persuade people/Detroit etc to change habits and cars etc. It still pisses me off at the local soccer moms driving their kids to the game in a fucking HUMMER - 7 miles per gallon- spot the brain cell folks
Sounds an awful lot like some folks here are opposed to anyone making a profit.
what is wrong making a huge profit selling hybrids, electric cars etc?
Nothing. A capitalist market will build what sells.
