Peppermint has a point, the UK may be small compared to the states but our congestion can be awful. Cruising rural USA at 60mph or juddering along the M25 at the pace of an asthmatic tortoise? I know which I'd choose - and the mpg figures would be very interesting indeed.
This isn't just about distance.
Just wondering how high fuel costs need to go before driving habits change en masse. I don't think the £1.50 per litre price tag is unthinkable in the UK before the year is out. That's about $12 per gallon.
Somethings got to give and I'm afraid it has to be the fossil fuel motorist.
