neon: I remember graduating from high school in 1969 and getting baptized shortly thereafter. I also remembering the Awake magazine that year assuring us that young people needed to face the fact that they would never grow old in this system of things, and therefore should focus on spiritual things rather than a career. I'm now 55.
Could neon or anyone direct me to this issue of awake so I do not have to start reading in january 1969 and become ill on my way to december?........thanks so much
And on a what if note....Every week millions of dubs sit in rooms, some large, and actually have what seem like sane discussions about the end of the world being "immediate" as one WT study artiecle put it. And still that we may NEVER die which I think has never happend to any living tissure/orgasam in history. Some 200 russians are holed up in a cave right now saying this and it is making big news.
Since these discussions seem normal/sane to dubs, even my extremely logical elder/dad/vulcan, what if the discussions were something just as ludicrous? Like...we will soon be able to live and breathe underwater without any artifical breathing aid....or a nearby comet is really an alien spacecraft coming to save mankind (oh, thats been done)....or maybe that anti-gravity is just around the corner and all humans will be able to fly by themselves all over the world....
How would a dub think if you could even get them to think about this? It was hard for me to even dream up something as odd as we are going to be never dying tissue as soon as billions die tomorrow but we don't.....If this is hard to follow...you come up with the new truth......oompa

While I was visiting some jw relatives I was shown a few pictures that were taken at a "Sisters over 70" party. I thought it was nice that someone would throw a party for those elderly gals. Maybe it was an unofficial group birthday party or perhaps they are thinking of starting their own version of a Red Hat Society. Anyway, I looked at all those gray, wise heads and thought it would have been interesting to ask them what they would have thought if someone had told them 30-50 years earlier that one day they would attend such a party to honor their old age. I also thought it would have been interesting to run a total of how many hours of their lives had been spent carrying out the commands of a printing corportation in New York. I have to admit that answers to either query would have been depressing.

Well at 80 yrs old I was baptised in1963 -I thought I would now be a young beautiful woman.in a paradise earth... living in a beautiful home ( that I had picked out in service) with a great big boat ( I had also my eyes on that one....In my great big garden filled with flowers I had an Elephant, a lovely Samoyed Dog, & a couple of Monkeys ( no not my kids real Monkeys..) I was expecting to go stand at the gravesides of all my JW friends that died to welcome them to Paradise when the earth had been cleaned up ( after the amunition had been gotton rid of 7 years before)
BUT!!!!! Instead I now sit in a VERY SMALL apartment....I can hardly walk( do well with my walker) every JW that told me they really loved me dont talk to me anymore. My daughter -grand-kids think I am evil dont speak to me at all.cos I dont believe them. My other kids are all dead. I am called the Queen of Apostates in Canada
I moved near a funeral parlour so that the one daughter ( susieQ on here) that is out of the WT wont have to do much with these old bones when I kick that long for bucket ...which everyone keeps moving -

My mother gets in a tizzy every time someone of her age group dies. "We weren't supposed to die in this system" she mumbles. Many jws think they will escape dying.
