wow.................. wow............. ok can you say exact opposite.
my mother will MAYBE put 10 dollars in the tank, my sister is the same damn way. its like they look at how much money they have.......... and where they want to go shopping......... and what they want to buy.......... and what they want to eat............ and THEN figure up what they will have left over........... thats what they put in the tank and HOPE AND PRAY they make it there.
my dad taught me......... ALWAYS fill up unless you absolutely dont have the money........... and if thats the case the car needs to be PARKED. when i got my first job and had to use their cars i kept them with good tires and full of gas........... untill my mother realized this...........all of a sudden i started haveing to fill up the tank EVERY time i got in and sometimes i would barely make it to town. one month i realized that i was putting 200 or 300 dollars worth of gas into the car every month............. this was when it was NINTEY NINE CENTS a gallon. so i QUIT lol.
now my wifes family............ none of them EVER fill up their cars. i asked my brother in law how much gas his car held because i borrowed it and put ten dollars in it twice and never filled it up or even got it to 3/4 of a tank(ten was all i had on me each day) he said................. um.......... i dont know........ ive never filled it up.
it was always my opinion that "women" never filled up the tanks......... but my bro in law was raised by women so i guessed it just rubbed off on him............ but i have met several women who would always fill up their tanks so i guess the world is just made up of fillers or walkers......... lol
then again my grandma always kept her car full........... so maybe thats where my dad got it........ and im the weird one....... go figure.
and like I said you can count on my vehicle at anytime, anywhere.....with no worries.r.
Where's the fun in that?
People who constantly fill up annoy me. ;-P The same can be said for those who do not fill up completely when they get gas. That's indicative of a lack of time management skills. I will make exceptions and stop earlier if I run across cheap gas.
Hate to admit it, I run on 1/4 tank alot. Something to do with running all the time and dragging a gaggle of kids behind me.

Ok Eryn you comedian you!
No I never run on empty, and John Doe, I don't top off my tank...I just never let it go below 1/4.
I always fill up. $50.00 at a time!
Never: What fun is it to see how far you can go on E.......not very. Too much stress!
I have been in cars that ran out of gas....it is extremely stressful and absolutely at the worst possible times!

R, I do the same thing. When the needle points to 1/4, I fill up. I also leave the odometer on trip so I can see how many miles I've driven since my last fill-up. 300 miles and it's to the gas station.
Reason:
One day after filling up, I was heading back home and I noticed that the "check guages" light was on. WTF. So I look, and the gas needle is pointing at E! I just filled up! It did it two more times. Mechanics aren't sure cuz it's never done it again. But it freaked me out.
Most modern fuel injected vehicles have the fuel pump located in the gas tank
The fuel is actually the lubricant for the pump
Habitually running the tank near empty can easily ruin a fuel pump.
Excepting a few mechanically challenged men with unusually long eyelashes, I don't know any males that do this.
Funny, just yesterday, I was almost on empty, but it's because I didn't have enough cash to get a fill-up. I usually keep the tank at least half, and up to full. I like to top it off when I can. Seems like the gage doesn't move for quite a while when you top it off. I like that, makes me feel like I got "extra".
djk, I heard that too, and most of the time when I can, I avoid stations with a gas truck there. Makes sense, too.
The wife, on the other hand, doesn't like to "part" with her money. I mostly only drive her car on Sundays, and it's almost a sure thing it will be on 1/4 or lower. Hmmmmmm.....? She knows I'll usually put gas in it for her, if it's that low. That tells me something.
She usually puts ten bucks in at a time. Last week she told me she put 20 dollars into it. I almost passed out !
