In the spirit in which the thread was started, I think the 'Dawg' was an asset to the board and I hate to see him gone (I had no idea, must have missed the thread).

When certain types of posters needed to be told to 'man-up' instead of getting sympathy for ways they were hurt by the witlings, Dawg never failed to deliver. It wasn't for everyone, but I bet he helped many realize the empowerment they have over the book publishing company.

Patronizing implies being offensive, which changeling in no way posted in the OP.

Edited to add: I shouldn't have gone there, my apologies, Changeling.

    changeling,

Like you, I am an INFP (mixed with INTP). I know how it hurts to think you may have unintentionally alienated someone. We usually avoid conflict because it makes us physically ill (most of us anyway). Your words are conciliatory, but not everyone thinks the same way (which is not a bad thing). We INFP's, above all others, really want people to realize their potential in their own unique way.

I learned a lot from dawg because his approach is so different from my own. That is what it's all about here. I will never be as good as he is at telling it like it is, but I'm getting better, in large measure because of his posts.

I hope dawg responds with appreciation for your sincere tribute.

With much learning still ahead, best regards,

    Happy Holidays!

'We, above all others want people to realise their potential in their own unique way.'

This is what I'm talking about here, and I am obviously inducing the wrath of two of you guys now. It is absolutley patronising to imply that only certain members of this board have superior motivations in their posts.

Shell: could you please take it outside and start your own thread? This one was intended to hounour dawg.

By the way, you have not responded to my PM. I take it you are not willing to accept my "olive branch".

    So sad.

Sorry, shell. I don't feel any wrath, and I am certainly not sure what gave you that impression. I do understand that changeling is most likely to be trying to be conciliatory. Does that translate to wrath?

All of us have our own approach, and I do not believe any particular approach is not "superior." That is why I made some changes and have adopted a somewhat more assertive stance in standing up for what is right. I have learned to be less of a conflict avoider and face others with less fear of offending or being verbally beaten down.

Shell, I love you just the way you are. I don't want you to be more like me. I don't want my own children to be more like me. I don't have any "superior" perspective, just my own. We all have to be who we are, and sometimes it leads to misunderstanding.

    Regards and Happy Holidays!

I take that your offer of an olive branch implies your apology for being patronising?

I undertsnbad PM's are for private discussion. It was not my intention to enter into private discussion about this.

I left this board a while back for my own reasons, and check in once or twice a week to see if anyone has pm'd me and to see if there is something "new" in the org. This post caught my eye because I, too, saw a change in Dawg from his earlier days on this forum and I had truly grown to "like" him. In honor of the intention of Changeling's thread, I say, "Goodbye, Dawg, and Good Luck." Now......

Changeling has always been one of my favs because she has a intuitive insight that is lacking in some folks. Take, for instance, you, Shell69. From what you have posted here today, you are definitely a prime candidate for an "optirectomy" because it looks like your ability to see beyond the surface of words is sorely lacking. You've already taken one comment out of context and embellished it with your own brand of spew.

Sorry, Changeling, for butting in to this thread, but INJUSTICE is my all-time pet peeve, and Shell69's comments qualified.

    Changeling:

Dawg and I recently exchanged a few pm's and he was really great. It made me think about looking back at his old posts and ya know, I gotta say I think you're right.

It seems like he had taken some time off to think and figure some stuff out and he has had a mellower tone, I've really enjoyed his thoughts and hope he returns soons, because it takes all kinds to make a good discussion board.
