Mashed sweet potatoes - with butter, orange juice and ginger. That's what I'm making on the stove with my ham.

OUtlaw...thanks but what temp for the BBQ for the ham? My grill is big and gets damn hot .....600 degrees if I don't watch it. I know I can do mashed potatoes without the stove, its the keeping warm function.....and of course I can't bake, which is going to kill me So I guess I will be doing banana cream and chocolate pies with stinking store bought crusts....but even then, I don't know how I will get the crusts right with no oven.

Restrangled..I just checked my book..350F for a ham.....What kind of BBQ are we working with..Charcoal or propane?..If it is Charcoal, does it have vents for releasing heat..Does your BBQ have a temperature gauge so you can tell how hot it is?....................Don`t buy your baked deserts at a grocery store,go to a specialized Bakery..A place that only deals in baked goods..A good Pastry Chef will give you the quality your looking for..He/She can even do special baked deserts for you,if you give Him/Her advanced notice.........I`ll check back later for your answer about the BBQ..We can make this work..So don`t worry.............Clint Eastwood...OUTLAW

    Do you have a microwave?

I always make my potatoes ahead of time and warm them up in the micr. I just add butter ..a little milk and whip with a fork..yummy!

Also..you can bake sweetpotatoes in the microwave then slice them and put them in a frypan and melt brown sugar and dabs of butter or marshmellows on them.

I wouldn't know how to brown the crusts for a cream pie or the topping....any suggestions anyone?

I wonder if a BBQ grill would work to brown the shells?

Snoozy...there HAS to be a way!

It is a propane grill. I will set it at 350 and warm the spiral ham as suggested...My bean recipe can be kept warm on top of the stove.. Coleslaw no prob.....but I have a recipe for red potatoes, sliced with cream, onion, hot pepper and cheddar sauce that needs to be baked....any ideas on that?

    IF you like cauliflower....

Steam a head of chopped cauliflower.

Add a little butter, perhaps a 1/2 c of Progresso Italian breadcrumbs (or another fave).

The recipe calls for a small amount, 1/2 c(?) of chopped hard boiled egg. But I don't do that.

    A few dashes of parsley.

    Voila.

    The breadcrumbs really make it.
