changeling,
I understand. However, for some people, their religion is so much a part of who they are that it naturally comes out in normal daily activities.
Suppose I practiced a religion that disapproved of music, or electronic technology? What would I do—isolate myself from the world? What would I have a right to expect from others? I think we all have to tolerate some things in order to reasonably live in this world.
Sadly, it sometimes becomes a battle of "in your face": I'm ____________ and I'm beautiful! (Fill in the blank with whatever.) Personal rights and the consideration of others should be balanced, shouldn't they?

Not when you live / visit in the Bible belt of America
Many of them are in-your-face-christians without any thought that you might not be.

So true! And that's exactly my point. Each of us has the right to believe what we want to, but we must respect the fact that others may believe differently. We must also guard against arrogantly throwing our beliefs around as if others MUST listen.
This woman did not consider for one moment that I would be insulted by her talk of hell and damnation. My yoga teacher gave no consideration to the fact that any of her students would find her negative remarks about gays to be offensive. And the owners of my old gym just assumed all their patrons would be christians who enjoyed chirstian music. What is this town comming to? Am I living in Stepford???

Hi changeling,
I agree with hmike, if you don't believe in it then when is the problem?
Well, to save buying the book "23 minutes In Hell" , have a look at the author's site and listen to his story-there is audio and video links.

I am sure many will scoff but no wonder.
Luke 16
The Rich Man and Lazarus
19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23In hell,[c] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
25"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
27"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'
30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "
So many references in the Bible to this being a literal place yet JWs say it doesn't exist?!

Beat you to it Stephen. I checked out the site already. This guy is either a complete lunatic or a very cunning scam artist.
And as I mentioned earlier what bugs me isn't that I fear going to hell, it's that in this day and age you would think people would be more open minded and sensitive to the fact that we don't all believe the same way.
I am encouraged by the fact that only two posters on this thread think this woman did nothing wrong. At least here on JWD most are going the way of enlightenment and progress.

Hi changeling,
Well the issue of if one thinks the woman did something wrong (or right) depends on if you believe Hell exists or not, right?
My suspicion is that the other poster mentioned also believes Hell exists.
There are quite a lot of other accounts of people who have experienced Hell and Heaven too.
Here is another nut case (or concerned person), depending on your beliefs. He experienced Hades (pre cursor to the Day Of Judgement and the Lake of Fire) and also Heaven.

See what you think.

Why should you even let it bother you? If you dont believe in hell, then so what?
I have had numerous JW's tell me that Im going to be destroyed at Armageddon, I dont let it bother me one bit, in fact I just smile and laugh it off.
