Good work on helping your wife. I'm not surprised that it's something directly from Beth-hell that would finally drive her away. I had an interesting conversation with my parents and others in the KH about that same dress and grooming directive from the GB. They were all, "this is something rather odd to send to every congregation." I was like, "we had to listen to crap like this in Bethel all the time. Rules, rules, and more rules."

Hello All!

I'm just writing to let you know that everything has been improving for the last 2 weeks! My wife have accepted that the WT is not the "Truth". I've been having good talks with her on a daily basis. She realized that the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" is just a parable used by Jesus, (By the way, check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Faithful_Servant), and that the 1919 date is just a man's invention. I also showed her the UN fiasco letters. She was in shock!

I never thought that it will take me less that 6 months to make her think by herself!! As many of you, I was scared to death to talk to her about it. I spent months "digesting" all the information I found about our beliefs, alone and depressed. Now (at least) I feel that I have my wife's support. And that's a relief!!!

She's sad sometimes, because it is very difficult to "disconnect" after so many years. (She's a 3rd generation Witness). But now she understands how "brainwashed" we were!!!

At this moment, I don't know what we are going to do. Yet. All of her family members are still inside. She has been trying to tell some things to her mom, but without results.

I'm trying to find a way of return my "privileges" in order to start fading...

Thanks for "listening", and I really appreciate all the PM's, good vibes and comments from all of you. I've found a family outside of the Borg, and your support has been a blessing.

Just read the whole thead for the first time.....and all I can say is YOU LUCKY BA$TARD!!!! I have been trying for two years to get my wife, son, and parents to think, question, ANYTHING....with no results. It will be so much easier to take whatever path you choose with the one you love by your side. What was the Rutherford teaching that your wife said is now being recycled? My first time reading this thread as well. Wow, I'm so happy for you! At the same time I must confess I got a little teary eyed, thinking about how different things could've been for me if my wife had been willing to listen. Congratulations! Score one for the good guys.

When I was fading, I started reporting less & less service time until I was removed as an MS (in truth I wasn't going out at all, just making up time). That's one approach.

Also, what was that Bethel dress & grooming letter? Was it a directive on what to wear when visiting Bethel? Can you some it up?
