And why is it that people who lie, always accuse others of the same thing?

That my dear sweetface, is an excellent question.

I don't lie often but I'm very machiavellian, and am good at mentioning only the details germane to the situation.

When I lie, it's morally justifiable to me. Ex. A cop asking me if I've been smoking cannabis... (never happened and never would but you get my drift) I pay my taxes honestly, etc, so I would never lie to the government when it comes to my responsibilities, but not when it comes to my rights.

For me lying has shifted from a black and white area from dubdom do a grey area, as has everything else. I would not lie to cause harm to people, but I will lie to protect myself from harm. For example I used to not even tell white lies (well I actually don't really like this meatloaf) but now it's just so much easier with stupid little shit like that to get it over with.

    < begin rant >

I've seen people do this to cause a stir so as to steer attention away from the bad things they are doing. These are the kind of people who thrive on chaos and confusion. And everyone else is always out to get them, and everything that happens is always everyone else's fault.

    Even within Jehovah's clean organization!!

Kensei - To me these are the sickest of all liars

People most often lie to escape some kind of consequence, but then again there are people who lie to accomplish an ulterior motive, yet there are still others who tell lies for pleasure, they get a thrill out of thinking they've fooled someone,in a sort of a Narcissistic way, they think they are smarter than everyone else,so they tell lies frequently because they believe the general populace aren't smart enough to catch them.

Mincan - I am on the same page as you

Now that I understand the original question...

I think lying to mislead for selfish gain or to take advantage of the generous nature of others is wrong.

Lying in other forms is sometimes okay... sometimes it is done to protect innocents from an answer that would be too painful for them to understand at their age or maturity level. And while I prefer a woman's natural beauty most often, sometimes her use of makeup to hide the truth is acceptable.

There is a book by David Livingstone Smith called "Why We Lie" that suggests evolutionary roots of protection, survival and dominance as the cause of human deception.
