I grew up with the Beatles and I loved it all. Followed their solo carreers too, except for Ringo. Hard to pick favorites, but Here Comes The Sun can always pick me up from a bad mood. The White Album and Abbey Road stand out. Earlier days brings to mind Rubber Soul. Always loved Norwegian Wood. Oh and Blackbird. Way too many to choose.

It is such a shame two of them are gone now. Much too soon. I saw Paul's last concert tour also. He hasn't lost anything. His voice is as beautiful as it always was.

There is no way I could just pick out one Beatles song.

    1. Here Comes The Son.

    2. Twist And Shout (dont think it was the original).

    3. In My Life.

    4. Yesterday.

    5. Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds.

    6. Helter Skelter.

    7. Day In The Life.

    9. Come Together.

    10. From Me To You, etc., etc.,...

I never got the whole Beatle-mania thing. I was in my teens when they first debuted in the U.S., and I remember watching in amazement as my classmates (female) screamed and swooned whenever a Beatles song was played on radio or TV. And these were the "I love you, yeah, yeah, yeah" songs, much inferior to their later work.

I was saddened when John Lennon was killed, but did not mourn him as many others did (admittedly, he had the best voice and perhaps the most talent of the group).

So, four decades later, still no favorite Beatles songs or albums to report. And still as clueless as to their appeal.

DAGNEY- The albums you mentioned are my favorites too ! I agree all of them were great, hard to rate. Those groups you mentioned are in my top 10 all time favorites as well ! No pigeonhole here !

TIJMKO- I thought " Something " was George Harrison's best effort - that and While my Guitar Gently Weeps. But Abbey Road was awesome, still is ! Although I will tire at times of listening to Sgt. Peppers - I could listen to Abbey Road over and over again . Never get tired of it.

FAIR MIND- Great song picks. I really liked Nowhere Man.

CHOOSING LIFE- I too was a Beatles fanatic, followed all their moves ! I have all their albums, I must have at least 4 biographies of them, read them all . Your album picks are my favorites too ! Paul's voice is just as good as it ever was at 65 years old ! Saw him also. Ah yes, Across the Universe, great song !

EL KABONG- I said, " No, No, NO, NO, I don't take it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor, no thank you please , it only makes me sneeze , and then it makes it hard to find the door . " Funny stuff !

LITTLE ROCK GUY- I saw Paul McCartney perform Helter Skelter with his current group he tours with and it was awesome ! My 21 year old son and I were up dancing on the seats ! We smuggled in Vodka into the concert and replaced our water with it into our water bottles ! LOL! Great song picks from you ! McCartney is a great musician ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I like many of their songs. The one that comes to my mind is "Fool on the Hill". Sérgio Mendes & Brazil '66 did a version of it that I really love, one of the first songs I can remember from my childhood. Something about the lyrics really made an impression on me at a young age.

"The fool on the hill sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round."

PARAKEET- I totally understand. I know a good number of people who didn't like the Beatles music . Hey, I respect that, everybody has their tastes . That's cool .What music groups did you like , just out of curiosity ?

PRIMATE DAVE- Yeah, I really liked Fool on the Hill as well. Very nice song. McCartney's video footage of him running around on the hills of France singing the song was kind of strange to watch - but hey that's what added to the mystique of the Beatles - they did some strange things at times ! LOL! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Joun and Paul were thre best song writers ever, that said, I like George Harrison's songs the best-he didn't write as many but when he did they stuck....

I like "Something" and "Here comes the sun" and "while my guitar gently weeps"... among his best... he was a great writer when he was on, but still John and Paul were the greatest, both in sheer volume and content.

DAWG- Yeah, I agree with you . John and Paul were the best songwriters in my opinion too , but they didn't give poor George the opportunities he deserved to have more of a say in even his own material at times . They were quite controlling with him- as evidenced by their influencing him to do a electric guitar version of " While My Guitar Gently Weeps " as opposed to his original acoustic version- which sounds great in my opinion. But Harrison was a great artist in his own write as well ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
