is there anyone here who speaks fluent Italian
Nope, but my Spanish was sufficient to get the gist of it and it sounded to me like the subtitles were pretty good.

Is'nt it a prerequisite to be a GB member that you have a college education?
I took French in high school and passed out of French for college. To do that, I had to have enough of a basic understanding of the language to comprehend a lot of what was on that video (Italian and French do share enough common words to make it intelligible with the help of the English subheadings). And a lot of the words sound familiar enough so, with the assistance of the written English text, I was able to make out much of what the slimebag was saying. The subheadings were NOT just put there to make our blood pressure go up!
If I saw a company that was going out of business, that wouldn't necessarily stop me from applying for work there. Suppose it was a company whose management was blatantly incompetent, and I had the skills and the essence to run that company properly. I could apply for work there a few days before they close down, with the full intention of saving the company or taking control once the incompetent manager closes it down. Then I would walk in and reopen it, and build the business back up.
In a similar way, people can walk into the world with the intention of doing what they could to improve it. Even if the destruction of the world were imminent, people are going to be needed after it is destroyed to get the "new" order up and running. There is still going to be need to maintain the infrastructure, or perhaps improve it (so you won't have those power outages or constant computer error messages, for instance). Preparing the infrastructure and rebuilding is going to be necessary, and people are going to have to get those skills somehow. People are going to need to educate children as well as those that never got the chance to go to school. There are going to be issues with health, food, transportation, and basic needs. And, if the new order is to be worth living in, people are going to need some kind of fun (whether recreation, jobs that provide fun, or both).
No matter how you slice it, college does have much to offer. People are going to need the skills that college provides. Only a few can safely dispense with college (like those musicians that are high school dropouts and still manage to easily put out one hit song after another, or those who are the true pioneers in the system). Everyone else should go to college if at all possible, no matter what those scumbags tell otherwise. And, if they do find themselves in a new order, people will be thankful that they have college grads to provide value until more people educate themselves to do so.
good god - the WT is really going too far - man I wish with all my heart the rank and file would acquire some sort of thinking ability - this is such bull shit - I have never heard so much crap - it really doesn't make sense and comparing college to suicide - give me a break.
When was this talk given???? south africa lags behind the states when it comes to DC and assemblies.
Them bastards will never change. No education and the world is ending.
There brewing up another batch of screwed up people to post here down the road.
Maybe jwd will have to change to spanish 5 years from now.
Losch is an absolute WHACKO!!!! I will never forget his talks at a midwest convention where he banned all sorts of activities, but especially football, man did that guy hate the NFL!!!!
"We are not masters over your faith" - Aye, ok then.
Well its in line with what the latest Watchtowers say.
The following is taken from the Watchtower 15th April 2008. Study Edition.
(The article will be studied in JW congregations between May 26th - June 1st)
The title of the article is "Repudiate "Valueless Things".
"Another example of something useful that can become a "valueless thing" is secular education. We want our children to be well-educated so that they can make their way in life. Even more important, a well educated Christian is better able to read the Bible with understanding, reason on problems and come to sound conclusions, and teach Bible truths in a clear and persuasive way. Getting a good education takes time, but is it time well spent?
What though of higher education received in a college or a university? This is widely viewed as vital to success. Yes many who pursue such education end up with their minds filled with harmful propaganda. Such education wastes valuable youthful years that could be used in Jehovah’s service. (Eccl 12:1) Perhaps it is not surprising that in lands where many have received such an education, belief in God is at an all-time low. Rather than looking to the advanced educational systems of this world for security, a Christian trusts in Jehovah."
My spanish isn't great, but he was speaking so slowly and clearly, it wasn't that hard to follow even without the subtitles. (not that Spanish and Italian are the same, but could still follow it)
I think they did lighten up on college for a few years... it seems like they are cracking back down on it now.
Suppose this guy giving the talk has a real problem and needs desperate help and then asks for help from the only person who can fix it and the potential helper says "sorry mate I can't help I stopped learning about your condition half way through the course."
Moral of the story is don't let JW's be your religious advisors.
