"We may well receive some detailed instructions. Our safe journey through those troublesome days will depend on our keeping in step with other loyal servants of Jehovah."

    Detailed instructions, like:

Avoid higher education, put your kids in homeschooling, build some underground bunkers, prepare for Arma-get-every-one-who-disagrees-with-us, wait on jehobo, avoid blood transfusions even if it kills your kids, be long-suffering, blah, blah, blah.

It gets newer and more exciting each episode.

Then again, maybe they're going to start killing all the d'f'ed apostates! Aaaaaah! Run, run, run!

I guess it's sort of a sign of panic from the GB. But in any case those who choose to be led will continue to do so. This religion, I imagine, is likely to begin to appear even stranger to those on the outside. It won't help the prosylitizing. But it will produce a tighter, if not smaller group of hardcore followers

Here's a question from the readers from November 15th, 1952

    Questions from Readers

In the case of where a father or mother or son or daughter is disfellowshiped, how should such person be treated by members oft he family in their family relationship?—P.C.,Ontario,Canada.

We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization,as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai and in the land of Palestine. "Thou shalt surely kill him; thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him to death with stones, because he hath sought to draw thee away from Jehovah thy God, . . . And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is in the midst of thee."—Deut. 13:6-11, AS.

Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship. However, God’s law requires us to recognize their being disfellowshiped from his congregation, and this despite the fact that the law of the land in which we live requires us under some natural obligation to live with and have dealings with such apostates under the same roof.

So if it wasn't for the pesky laws of the land in which we live, and that most inconvenient new covenent that Jesus brought about to get rid of the old law, we'd just kill 'em!! But well seeing as we can't (drat) We'll just make em WISH they were dead.

I'm appalled, although I have thought for a long time that the hardcore dub would kill if ordered to do so. Religion is evil - why can't everyone see that?

He spoke about the situation of Lot and his family. The angels were urging them to leave right away, but they lingered. The angels had to come and take them by the hands to get them out of harms way. They also gave them strict instructions not to look back as they fled to the mountainous region. Lot asked to go to Zoar, didn't want to go to the mountainous region. He was given permission to do so. Eventually he did go there, but Jehovah made this concession to him on the run!

Using the above line of reasoning- could it not also be argued that the faithful are being urged to leave an unfaithful organization ? And that despite the evidence of it's corruptness some still "linger", longing for those things "in the spiritual paradise".After all, Lot and his daughters didn't run to another organization, they had to live in a cave in the mountains away from others.Interestingly, even though most people believe the "sin" of Sodom was homosexuality, the Bible says it was False Worship.

According to Isaiah Sodom did claim to serve God:

"Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats." (Isaiah 1:10,11)

Even the Israelites were compared to Sodom:

"Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good." (Ezekiel 16:49, 50)

"And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah." (Jeremiah 23:13, 14)

Even if one doesn't believe in the Bible it's evident that the "guide" they supposedly so highly espouse has exposed them for what they really are.

make yourself obey...even if it's uncomfortable or difficult... or even if you don't understand why or your heart is not inclined to do it...if you do it, your heart will catch up!

That is classic mind control. If you can change someones actions for long enough, their mind will follow to eliminate the internal conflict. This is straight out of the "mind control how-to" manual.
