Not exactly. In your analogy, I signed a policy and agreed to the terms and standards. OK, I'm with you.

But then the person who created the policy changed it and will not let me discuss it without punishment. I cannot walk away without punishment even though it is them that breached the original policy/agreement. And even though I believe that they LOWERED their standards, they tell other people that it is me that choses not to live up to standards when this is clearly not the case.

Your analogy does not work thru the progression of the situation that I presented.

For the record, I was a walk-away believer and have no problem living up to the standards that the WTS purports to uphold. But there is their public statement of the way things are and then there is what really goes on behind closed doors with only 3 or 4 people present.

May I ask - why are you here?? Do you have a connection to Jehovah's Witnesses?? I'm sincerely interested.

if the policy changes then u will be notifed,,and ther will be reasons why it changed,,its not like ok u have the copy of the policy and when u go there they say to u look we have changed it,,,,,but we did not have to notify u,,, i remember once a teacher of mine said, 1+1=6 and i said no 1+1=2 thats no fair,,he said u have to play my game,,,, he was right though because if i did exam with him i was gonna put 6 and i wasnt gonna FAIL.

You are making a very big assumption. Just because I do not sit in a Kingdom Hall and identify myself with a particular religion, does not mean that I have stopped serving Jehovah.

Why would you even think to say that to me? I have not said anything in this thread to indicate that I have left serving Jehovah. I merely said that I have separated myself with a religion that I believe has changed (lowered) its standards and then bad-mouths anyone who's conscience will not allow them to quietly accept those lower standards.

The fact that this is your assumption from just a few sentences that I wrote to you proves my point. Doesn't it??

(I believe you got this thought from listening to talks at the Kingdom Hall. I know because I heard those same talks and for over 30 years believed that, too.)

I'm uncertain about what you mean by 'what would you say to yourself at that time,,,just imagine'.

I am very proud of my standards and am confident that my distancing myself when I did was pleasing to Jehovah. It was only after several years of honest prayer and careful personal reflection that I quietly walked out of the Kingdom Hall one day because my conscience would not let me agree with the speaker(s).

OK. In our discussion in this thread, are we 'playing' Jehovah's game? or the game of Jehovah's witnesses??

You see - that is where the problem in many of our hearts lies. We believe that the Watchtower Society has started playing a game with doctrine and policy. And the consequences of the game affects our lives completely. If we believe that the WTS is no longer acting with Jehovah's approval, should we still play the game their way??

Or should we create a little distance from them and solemnly reflect and live according to the higher and more-just standards of God?

By the way - my apologies for not acknowledging that you are new here.

Welcome to JWD!! And - Welcome to the United States!! (I think that's where you are now.)

I'm certain that you have quite a story about what brought you here. I'd very much like to hear it.

Welcome to the US... Mir Dita (I'm not too sure if I spelled that right but that's supposed to be Albanian...) A few thoughts, PA...

    1. Did you know that you're coming on this board is in disobedience to the Faithful Slave class? A number of posters on this board might be considered "apostate" by JWs. You could be disfellowshipped for posting here unrepentantly... 2. You ask what about returning to Jehovah again... My response: I have never left Jehovah. I left the Watch Tower Society, since it doesn't teach the Bible, but rather an interpretation of it. I'll be happy to give you a number of examples. Take your pick, I'll give you the example: a. Misquotes (designed to mislead the reader) b. Faulty chronology c. re-writing their own theocratic history d. non-biblical teachings You tell me Pure Alb, what's your pick, a, b, c, or d. You'll have an answer in no time flat. Just read #1 above first before you go any farther. A@G

I would watch out for this young upstart named AWAKENED @ GILEAD.
I wouldn't want to tangle with his understanding of theology and JW doctrine.
He has been to the school at the top of the mountain with the gurus.

Maybe Blondie could teach him a thing or two, but even there, she would
go beyond the things written in the Bible and show him up using WT literature
    quotes. Not really fair.

It's a good thing he's on our side. PA, you are welcome here. We enjoy
sharpening our minds, remembering what we overcame. Keep reading.
But slow down some. I don't understand half of what you have said.
    Take your time.
