Frankly, I've never seen a discussion board that didn't ban people occasionally or have people leave in a huff at times.
I doubt it exist. People who were never Jehovah's Witnesses don't think twice about it.
All discussion boards I've ever seen, are either private enterprises (like this one), or run by groups of people drawn together for one specific cause or interest (but still usually private in the sense that just a very few individuals are actually the "owners" or administrators). This particular discussion board, JWD, tries to provide about as big a tent as any discussion board, ever, in the history of discussion boards. Think about it, it's for ex-JW's, but it's not limiting discussion to JW related issues. In short, it's trying to do the impossible: be all things to all people.
The American Congress has approval ratings even lower than those of Dick Cheney; somewhere around 26% I believe. Why? The main reason is that Republican and Democratic ideals really ARE very different, perhaps more so than ever, at this unique point in history, and so it is very difficult for Congress to accomplish anything. It really does take a special kind of leader to try and find rapprochement and common ground to work from between the two ideologies.
Simon never claimed to be that leader.
