Frankly, I've never seen a discussion board that didn't ban people occasionally or have people leave in a huff at times.

I doubt it exist. People who were never Jehovah's Witnesses don't think twice about it.

All discussion boards I've ever seen, are either private enterprises (like this one), or run by groups of people drawn together for one specific cause or interest (but still usually private in the sense that just a very few individuals are actually the "owners" or administrators). This particular discussion board, JWD, tries to provide about as big a tent as any discussion board, ever, in the history of discussion boards. Think about it, it's for ex-JW's, but it's not limiting discussion to JW related issues. In short, it's trying to do the impossible: be all things to all people.

The American Congress has approval ratings even lower than those of Dick Cheney; somewhere around 26% I believe. Why? The main reason is that Republican and Democratic ideals really ARE very different, perhaps more so than ever, at this unique point in history, and so it is very difficult for Congress to accomplish anything. It really does take a special kind of leader to try and find rapprochement and common ground to work from between the two ideologies.

Simon never claimed to be that leader.

Banning people for different political views isn't cool if that's what we're talking about. If you want to say "politics" is out of bouds here - fair enough, let's keep on topic. But this just doesn't feel right. Or was it a case of a disrespectful tone to the "boss man". That's different. It's understandble that people might get a bit heated about someone filtering out their specific political views though. I think the two of them need to sit down over a beer and work it out.

But as the JW say - "where else would I go"?

but I am choosing to say that an injustice was done out of a blatant bigoted downright hateful, revengeful, spiteful, prejudice against someone because "he's not one of us."

wow that is a huge accusation - you are kinda sounding like your own condemnatory accusation - you haven't presented any proof - just your take on what happened and you haven't told us anything about the situation you are talking about.

Touching Letter, but can you explain and be more specific who are your friends and what really happened?

I agree that this forum should be a place of freedom of speech. Everyone has the right to express his/her point of view without being persecuted from the forum. I personally find interesting to see the views of other ex-jw's and jw's regarding their journey to freedom.

Anyone has the right to choose, either to become Christian, Atheist, follow a another Christian domination, or anything else that believes is right. Each of us must express freely our point of view, and ALL of us must be open to scrutinity and critisism, because only through discusion we can reach to conclusion. At least this what my Greek backround taught me all this years. Freedom of Expression, Democracy, and understanding without hate or prejudice

    "BurnTheShips" was banned.

I would say this forum was a big part of his life.

He is probably really sad now.

It's a shame because BTS was perfectly capable of expressing himself without the huge swathes of copypasta. He will be missed.

It's sad to hear of someones suffering at the hands of people in power ,it does really have a parallel with the WTS . I've heard that they even pull someones post off the site despite no offensive material in the posts ,just shows how one individual can weild power without consulting the rest of the moderaters. Because they have followed someones posts for a time and then assume they don't like that person ,they then proceed to silence that person gutlessly hiding behind the anonymity that a moderator can have is so sad. So HUMAN, so society like. OOps does this qualify me to be marked here and censored?

Welcome to the board, xslave. You can see below my avatar that I am one of the Board Assistants. If I'm hiding, I do it in plain sight.
