Ranchette has answered this already but I will try to go a bit more in depth. It is a national law that child molesters register in their state. Their names, pics, adresses, and sometimes occupation is all public knowledge.
This is not the case in the JW religion. What would happen to you if you found out that a JW was in a JC and found guilty of child abuse? If you warned anyone of this, you would be counseled, even punished for slander, even if it is a fact.
Have you checked out the silentlambs site? Victims are not the only ones who have posted. There are several family members who are outraged to find out about their own loved ones being victims of abuse and it is swept under the rug. Also I cannot speak for Mr Bowen, but I am pretty sure he would allow any silentlamb no matter their religion to have a voice on his site.
So now you have been educated, what say you? Do you think the policy to handle it inside the congregation is a good thing? Do you think that a known child molester should be allowed to have personal contact with young children in the hall, without notifying the parents? Should a child molester be allowed to change congregations without notifying the new members? Because the policies of the WTBTS is what Silentlambs is about.

I personally believe we have a moral obligation to expose the corruption and crimes of the Watchtower Society and the nest of vipers they have created with their misguided efforts in doing something good.
Yes, there is a huge amount of child abuse in the world, much of it done in the name of religion, and not just the JW's either. Thankfully public awareness of this global crime is increasing and all of us want to see this widespread abuse stopped. Why then should we spend extra effort in exposing the sins of this Borganization? It is because THEY DO NOT ACKNOWLDEGE the widespread nature of these crimes! Nobody knows the inside of this organization better than we ex-dubs do. It is our moral imperative to shout out and expose their crimes for all to see and make them aware of their gross stupidity for letting this happen.
I'm sure that Witnesses are just as shocked as everyone else about child abuse but they don't collectively see themselves as being part of an organization that allows it to happen.
You can claim to have a valid point for us opposing the JW's on their impractical and discombobulated doctrines, but when those doctrines and ideologies harm people (i.e. blood transfusions, child abuse, sucicides, tearing apart families and more) then I think the gloves need to come off and show everyone, including the dubs still inside, what a crock of shit they are buying.
If the JW's want to become a conventional religion or better yet, an organization that tries to do something constructive for society as a whole than destructive, then they can get some slack. Until then, I say cut their balls off!

if a pheadophile is accused of a crime somewhere in the world its not news. if he was once at a meeting we all here about it.

Your attitude about this most serious issue and it's connection with an organization supposedly backed by god is frightening. And not a little sick. It's attitudes like yours that has allowed thousands of little kids become victims of abuse and their abusers shielded by knowing adults who just looked the other way.

I am so glad I came acroos this thread. I think as someone who never was a JW I have a unique perspective of this among posters. I studied with the JWs for some time. We got through that stupid little book they use and it took a long time cause we used to go off on all these side discussions. Anyway, it wasn't lost on me all the criticism of other churches and religions. I knew a lot of criticisms were justified but it seemed the WT pointed to the imperfections of others so very, very often. Pretty much assuring people that you won't find anything like that in congration of Jehovah's true followers.
This is one of the WT's main selling points. We are better than them. We are above such sinful, filthy behavior, we are chosen. Only we will survie armageddon and that's why.
I think it is very important that this truth come to light. I think people (the unsuspecting public) should know that not only does child sexual abuse occur in the WT-world but these victims are discuoraged, even prevented from taking action against their abusers. These abusers are sheltered by the WT.
Why would anyone criticize such a horror being brought to light? Only when such a thing is brought into the light can it be stopped. Unless someone has something to fear from all of this revelation......
