Is There ANYTHING More Monotonous Than Living As A JW?

"When it comes to being a witless, you do not get what you put into it. That is the official party line, intended to get people to put more in. "

i love it how people like the oh so subtle word changes, classy.

yeah it is a party line, but its definetly true. Commenting at the meetings, having parts, doing different things, they definetly make the meetings more interesting. Ive been on both sides of that one.

"And you get one more publisher, pushing the Washtowel Slaveholdery closer to the dreaded 7 million mark ."

dreaded? How does this threaten you? They can do whatever they want, recruit whoever they want -- i dont care anymore.

"Not only have the gatherings been taken away,"

they havent been. I still see witnesses at all the old hang out spots, the difference is, more and more lately, i dont give a damn. About 3 or so years ago, there were so many gatherings you could fill the week with em if you wanted...

"Education is banned beyond high school, as is the Internet "

    both untrue

Education after high school is greatly discouraged as is the internet.

i didnt REALIZE they werent good friends until after... jeez, ive never seem so much debate over semantics!!!

yeah there were a TON of not at homes, and busy people -- but the alternative witnessing we did helped us reach more people.

Look, those are seriously my experiences. Must I preface everything with some kind of disclaimer that shows im not a witness, dont want to be, and that witnesses ruined something very special in my life for me? If i wanted to out the witnesses, i would - i have alot of disdain there. But im not going to let that blind the fact of the positive things i experienced whilst in the borg.

When you pioneer and serve in other countries, and do relief work, you tend to have alot more experiences than a 10 hour a month publisher.

even though i disagree with that, i will give you a "perhaps" (considering that nutso video from that italian "brother")

it is MOST certainly not "banned"

that is what i was talking about.

Maybe it's because of statements like this..

i think the witnesses have a firm grip of the truth - but they are not there yet.

Or maybe in spite of the fact that your chosen name is "Solace" your words are often angry and lash out at everyone who doesn't agree with you.At times, you seem to try to incite others to "attack" you.You call the posts on this website "drivel" but get upset when someone calls you on it ? It doesn't make much sense.

As for college being "banned" ...in many ways it is.Discussion of it in a favorable light is certainly banned as doing so will result in removal of privileges.Apparently it's not banned for someone who claims to be putting "spiritual interests first"(such as aux. pioneering but still going to colege) but for it is for your average publisher. How crazy is that ? Some elders might look the other way, some won't.During my time as an elder I saw many double standards and cover ups.Where's the consistency ? They're no different than "Christendom" which they constantly bash.Should they not be judged by their own standards and manner of operation ? When one claims to be "God's sole channel on earth" and that no one other than 'Jehovah's Witnesses has any solid basis to live through Armageddon', they darn well better prepare themselves for critical observation.

Look, while I appreciate accuracy in statements, this CULT does not deserve to be defended and splitting hairs on certain issues comes across that way. While we don't want to become so unbalanced that we make statements about JW's or the WT that have no truth in them, we also need to show the same attitude when reflecting on those here; many of whom continue to suffer from the heartless actions of a soulless organization. When one defends an abuser, what do you think the reaction will be by the abused and observers ? How one says things make a big difference and affects how seriously they will be taken.

Or, as in Jeremy C's thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/159650/1.ashx (The WT society as a toxic parent), you suggested (or at least seemed to suggest) that use of guilt could also be seen as "inspiration."

Uh........no. Guilt is a negative emotional state. It is only a useful negative emotion when it is used to correct a selfish person's willful neglegence or error. Guilt as a motivator, or "inspiration" is a destructive and counterproductive tactic.

As in, the WT society uses guilt on a member(s) who are already trying their hardest to be a "good" JW. It's never enough though. The WT uses guilt to make the individual(s) feel worthless, lazy, and not good enough. They love to use "experiences" to do this. "Look at brother so-and-so. Why, he is a parapallegic but he still is a full time pioneer! You are in good health, why can't you do at least the same as brother so-and-so?" They do this without taking into account an individual's circumstances. The person may be supporting a family. They may have to work full time to provide health insurance for their family. So, the WT's use of the negative emotional state of guilt will have a destructive effect. They'll run themselves into the ground trying to do more, more, more when they're already doing all they can. If they fall short (and they will), they'll beat themselves up over it.

    Guilt as inspiration?

    Please.

One more point to keep in mind... teh WTS boasts that its members spend over a billion hours in year in FS...

1 billion wasted hours.. can you imagine what could be done with all that manpower to better mankind, instead of passing out useless literature and seeking converts?

This is only FS time.. if you include meetings and assemblies, the time could double or more....

What a heaping pile of crappily wasted time!

yeah, i think witnesses really do have a grip on it -- biblically - imo they have cleared up alot of misunderstandings about the bible, and its meaning. When compared to other "christian" religions, they are an OASIS of truth lol, but that is not saying much, as i utterly despise religion in all forms now. It is all just making people separated, and enforcing man made rules.

but yeah, they are FAR from being there, especially after the things i have been researching lately... not to mention the experiences i have endured.

i mean, is it really so offensive for someone to have a point of view?!?!! And then for them to revise it later? Im not an organization proclaiming to be the truth. I am a human being that is seeking answers, i am prone to change my stance, no?

"your words are often angry and lash out at everyone who doesn't agree with you."

show me one place i lashed out as someone without being mocked or insulted first?

my words are not angry, unless i am defending myself in the face of anger and ignorance. My words are blunt, sure... ill give you that. But i think sometimes what helped me get through this is a sharp, painful realization of truth.

"Discussion of it in a favorable light is certainly banned as doing so will result in removal of privileges."

strange, many i know that have discussed it are still elders...

and that doesnt mean aux pioneer whilst IN college, although certainly for the goal of pioneering or otherwise trying to put spiritual goals first, after.

"You call the posts on this website "drivel" but get upset when someone calls you on it ?"

man, i never generalized the whole site like this. I have learned alot, and got some really cool downloads of real documents that i can use for my research. It has been most helpful.

"'Jehovah's Witnesses has any solid basis to live through Armageddon',"

i have seen this comment made, and despise it. Especially when it says "baptized" JWs -- there is SUCH a misconception perpetuated in the borg about this - and a double standard really.
If you look at my posts (which i dont think you really have) you will see i acknowledge SEVERAL double standards, and have been hurt by these -- but at the same time, i am not so unbalanced as to ignore my quite positive experiences that i had as well.

is this so hard to understand?

Above all else I regret the time i spent in dull, boring, and mindless activities. Bethel was nothing of the sort, and was very exciting (due to the insane schedule and the fact that I was young, healthy, and single), but meetings, conventions, pioneering, and everything else was about as lame as a cold dead fish.

I don't think Witnesses have a firm grip of the truth at all.
