Yes, I wear an orange apron. I keep all kinds of top secret equipment in there--you don't want to know.
From what I've seen, Home Depot and Lowes are very similar. Lowes has some cleaner displays and better merchandising locally, but that's a store to store variation. There's always a lot of employees at Home Depot or Lowes that used to work for the other company. It's all the same.
Home Depot has been an excellent job while I'm in school, because I get 50% tuition reimbursement for working two days a week, and I get health insurance. That's hard to beat. They no longer offer tuition reimbursement to part timers, but since I started in '05, I grandfathered in under the old rules.

I love those guys in the orange aprons. I nearly clocked a guy in the paint department at Lowe's the other day. Employees that act like you, the customer, are bothering them, deserve to be fired.

Our entire store scores very well on the voice of the customer. Better than 90% of the people who fill the surveys out say they would recommend our store to a friend. That's pretty good considering how many cranky assholes come through the door. ;-)

I'm getting a 7 year degree, and I didn't start college until I was 23, dropping out of high school in 10th grade. Trust me, there are many more older than me in my grad school class.
