The jahchristian egroup emails to about 1,000 exJWs & Friends the Free Christians Newsletter which informs regarding the Watchtower Society but also covers science, archaeology etc, offers epenpal services, helps those interested to form, maintain or join existing non-Watchtower Bible Groups (Round Mountain Free Christians, Ekklesia Christians, Jah Christians, Paducah Area Free Christians etc) or Support Groups that are simply for non-spiritual recovery and friendships in general. The newsletter and other services are all 100% free, readers are NOT obligated to join any group at all although some do -- all belief systems welcome. The website came into existence in mid-2001 but the egroup founders' history dates back to 1998. Main writer-compiler is Troy Brown:

If you like what you see there, follow the instructions and you will soon be getting your own copies to use. A suggested weekly Bible reading etc are included for those wishing unified wholesome spiritual fellowship, though again the emphasis remains on Christian Freedom in Christ (Ro 14:1-5) and you are welcomed regardless of belief system.

P.S. The groups are independent but cooperative, sharing Jehovah's Christ as the only overall spritual Leader (Mt 23:10), an arrangment for good order like that which many believe not only most Protestant groups but earliest Christians enjoyed. Iwishfortruth,

I only want to comment on one of your terms. You said we are living in "terrible times". We are not living in terrible times at all. You believe this because you have been told this for many years and so you accept it as fact. You need to read something about the history of the human race and get a sense of perspective. Actually, we are living in the best of times in man's history. The average life span at the time of Christ was 35 years. In the 14th century there were so many wars and pestelances that the population declined. It was not until less than three hundred years ago that the average life span increased 15 more years from Christ's time. Since the 1700's, a brief time in human history, the average life span has increased another 20 years, up to 70 years. Our times are the best that mankind has ever seen.

Is it not interesting that a religion could get you to believe that these are "terrible times' when this is the farthest thing from the truth as revealed when one studies human history?

It is difficult for Jehovah's Witnesses to leave their family and friends behind when they come out of the Watchtower Society. It is also very difficult to sort out doctrinal issues that would allow them to feel comfortable enough to attend a Christian Church.

This year we started a web site to present Christian doctrine in a way that will allow Jehovah's Witnesses to better understand the Christian faith and how the Watchtower has indoctrinated their followers to be prejudiced against Christians and historic Christian doctrine. * http://www.jwinfoline.com/

    Oh, god, another one.... nope, there's several... alright, no more Mr. Nice Atheist;

In my opinion, it's one thing to not agree with organizations that impose certain rules upon it's members, but it's quite another to turn one's back on God Himself because of disagreements.
Yup, I agree, finding out an organisation is fake and finding out the theory of god is false are two different things. Well done.

Is there not still some Higher Power out there who has the best interest of humans at heart?
No, there is no higher power out there. You want a discussion about it? Go ahead, make my day. Start of by giving me some proof of this higher power.

How can it be denied, especially in these terrible times, that something or someone is gonna have to step in and take over and end this havoc.
Yes, times are so terrible that, worldwide, heath care is better, life-spans longer, education more available, and sexual equality more established than EVER before. Stop sounding like a Watchtower article and cite some facts rather than your fact distorting buffonery. People who say things like that are staring at bad trees in a forest that is in better shape than ever before.

I'll ignore the rest of the post as it builds upon the dumb assumptions I've responded too above.

Please, would all of you fundies and theists take your offensive assumption that we atheists 'throw the baby out with the bath water', or stop believeing in god because we were JW's and have our faith shattered, and put it out with the trash where it belongs.

I don't believe in god because there is no evidence. No other reason. Give me some decent evidence, I'll believe.

I'll give you an equally offensive assumption.

I think that people who are xJW's and still believe in any form caring, concerened god have failed to completely rebuild their world-view. Having been fed a sack of shit by the JW's, they empty out half of it (the JW stuff), and carry on eating the rest (the god who cares stuff), but it is still shit. They are basing their life upon an unsupported theory, as they are too lazy to learn, or so badly educated they don't understand the evidence for a godless Universe, or are so scared of their existence ending with their last breath they'll perform conceptual back-flips to retain their belief in god and hope of an afterlife.

If you don't like it, see what RR says "... you don't need to be polite ... this is about TRUTH and TRUTH hurts."

I do hope you like getting paid in the same coin.

As for those of you trying to sell your religion to people recovering from a cult, well, that speaks of your morality, doesn't it? Selling soap when you're covered in dirt is NOT a moral high ground. The advice by Refiners Fire is apt, although I don't know if they realise it

'If you still yearn for belief I recommend you stop thinking so much'

Yup, the only way I could believe in god is if I stopped thinking. If god gave me this brain, and wants me to stop using it, then the Universe is absurd, and god is an asshole.

People living in glass paradigms shouldn't throw stones...

    Well said Ab!!!
It irks me to no end to see this specious assumption yet again!!
Folks that spew this never seem to consider that many of us researched long and hard for years trying to evidence a case for a super sky daddy. And that using reason logic ,critical thinking found nothing to support this. Hence, our conclusion there was none. It had NOTHING to do with the WTS. How could I continue to believe what I found to be myth and superstition?

Another ludicrous assumption ,and a snide judgemental one is that our disbelief is to serve 'selfish needs'.lolol

Unable to offer rational logical proof for their theistic belief, they resort time and time again to ad hominem. Not to mention this 'moral highhorse' they ride which merely shows their intolerance for non-believers. When I continue to see this ad nauseum,it serves to strengthen my conclusions. hugs,T

I must echo some of the above posts - Iwish4truth sounds like where I was when I first started questioning the JWs ten years ago. At this point you have essentially two places to go. Or perhaps I should say you have a choice of staying where you are or moving to the next level.

You can chose a real transformation of consciousness, a radical step up in your world-view. It doesn't mean totally rejecting all that you believe now, but it does require recognizing its limitations and expanding your thinking beyond them. I'm afraid that fundamental and literal religion, especially fundamental Christianity, will have to be shed if you're going to take that step.

Or you can merely seek a new translation of the same level of consciousness that you had as a Witness. That seems to be what RR and some of these others are offering you. The same deadend fundamentalism.

A genuine spiritual transformation will require that you grow up though. Whining about what terrible times we live in and how powerless we are and how we need the Big Daddy God to come and make everything right for us are the hallmarks of the low tier of consciousness where JWs and fundamentalists of all stripes find themselves stuck. It feels like it's a safe place to be because it presents the world in such black and white terms, and sees that higher power out there somewhere who will fix it all for us as long as we all obey the rules and rigidly follow the code.

It's essentially a literal interpretation of myths that were meant to be understood as metaphor.

A genuine integral transformation will bring you into a much more complex world, one filled with all the colors and not just black and white. It will require that you stand on your own two feet, that you stop whining, and that you face a world that is both wonderful and tragic with great personal courage and integrity.

Are you ready to move ahead in your spiritual growth? I have no idea. If some of the things I've written here, or that JT or Abaddon have written, strike a chord with you, then maybe you're ready to really make a transformation.

If they make no sense to you, or scare you to death, perhaps you need to remain at that safe tier of certainty that you had as a Witness. If so, instead of moving up to a new level of consiousness, you can just gently slide over to a new translation of the old ideas that is more comfortable for you.

But remember that an integral transformation of your world view is not a gentle or easy process. In fact most people seldom make the move because it requires too much honesty, takes us too far from our comfort zone, deals with real truth and not just imagined religious ones. It's just so much easier for most people to simply find new versions of the same old ways of thinking instead of stepping up to a new tier of spirituality.

Good luck. It can be a marvelous - if scary - journey when you start taking responsiblity for you own life.

I found 2 yeara after I left the Wt, I hated anything religious.

I h ad to come in touch with the fact I was Mad at Jehovah. Until I was able to relize teh fact the Jehovah is not the Watchtower organization and sepreate the 2, I would have not love God either.

Today, I am able to seperate the 2. I am now a Born Again Christian who is a Messianic Jew and serve the True God and His son Yeshua (Jesus). Is it not why most memebers became Jehovha's Witnesses in the first place?

: How can it be denied, especially in these terrible times, that something or someone is gonna have to step in and take over and end this havoc.

How can it be denied? Like this: "I absolutely deny it." Simple.

Read the book "The Sign of the Last Days - When?" by Carl Olaf Jonnson and then we'll have a talk about how "bad" these times are.

    Farkel

    "I didn't mean what I meant."
