I had planned to be. . . but yesterday I started feeling like I'm coming down w/something.Today feels worse (creepy crud, sore throat, green stuff) so I am buying hermetically sealed dessert and appetisers from costco today and then hunkering down and hope I feel good enough to go see family tomorrow. I have an ill elderly MIL and a baby in the family, so I am not wanting to bring notably bad germs when they are going to be exposed to germs enough anyway.

Man, I had some good plans, too. . .I love to make homemake pumpkin pie and pumpkin bars(esp) for my family. They love them, and that is all I can please everyone with!

I never cook early. Everything is done on Thursday am and from scratch. The only thing I make before (tonight) will be the pies.

    Happy Turkey Day everyone

So who is stuffing the bird? I have stuffed the bird for 25 years. This year I'm doing something different.

Hmmm that doesn't sound good does it?

I made the pie crusts this past weekend and I am about to start on my pumpkin pie. I like to make my own pumpkin puree and it has been defrosting overnight. Gonna do the cranberry sauce today and my pumpkin roulade with ginger marscapone filling (its to die for!). The turkey and fixin's will be tomorrow.

    Goodness gracious.

The cooked concoction looked mouth-wateringly good after pulling it out of the oven.

    1. God would have made this on the seventh day if he had the recipe. A new milestone in bacon creation. All hail Chef Corey!

I could not have said it better myself.

      1. I am totally making this for thanksgiving.

      2. Jenny, will you marry me?

    5. “And when Alexander looked upon his empire he wept, for there was nothing left to conquer.”

Except maybe this beast of a meal.

Ok, I admit, I love Bacon. This seems a bit much though...................

Happy thanksgiving all! Our Canadian version is long over, but our family had a little get-together this month, and I prepared two "sides" to help out.

The first is a sort of Mushroom Stroganoff. This is sort of what I made:

Then I realized a recipe like that would banish the children to vegetable hell, so I also made a comforting creamed corn custard, like this:

Neither was made with sugar or salt, in respect to my dad's dietary restrictions.

    So far I've made the

    Sweet potatos

    stuffing

    mac and cheese

    greens

    green beans

    black eyed peas

    tomorrow I will make the

    mashed potatos

turkey (one in the oven and my husband is smoking one)

    cornbread and honey butter.

My one nod to 'storemade' is Crescent rolls, because my son loves that he can 'make' them.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
