I've got an idea for a song. The tune would be like "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green.

Now you supply the words about the elders, the "Truth", etc. and we can make sweet music!

For buying beer undrage. " Dude, don't I look 21?" Probably worked because I was already buzzing pretty hard.

Also, all my friends were always being suspected of stuff, so by proxy, so was I. Didn't have to go to the "back room" per se, but was always having to field probing questions, which I dodged with aplumb.

Almost forgot, I had to sit in on a reproofing, for having the audacity to have a "worldly" boyfriend< of a younger sister whose cousin I was engaged to. I guess the Elders were gonna show her! It was embarassing, and I felt sorry for her. What a bunch of assholes.

I was a good girl really however ......

1st time in backroom was at fifteen . My worldly 19 yr old BF had a jealous ex GF that worked with a sister at the mall . When she found out he had been seeing me, she ratted me out to the sister . Who in turn told the Elders . At first it was just reported that I attended a birthday party with him ,some how they found out much more of a party occured between he and I . I was privately reproved and was told that had I been baptized they would have D'fd me ,because I did not show enough remorse by crying ..... It was one of the most ugly things I had to endure as a kid . I didn't realize until I was an adult , how much it affected me having to bare my most intimate details to a group of men and my Mom .

As an adult I was called into the back room to answer reports that I had helped decorate in front of the store I work at with Scarecrows (considered Halloween decor) I laughed at them ,but like a good girl promised never to let that happen again , even though I saw nothing wrong with it .

Called into several backroom meetings because of our boys. They had a knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time . They also seemed to believe it was better not to narc on a friend which reallly pisses Elders OFF ....".You could be saving your friends everlasting life by telling on them everytime they smoke a cigarette or look at a nudy picture ." Because if you don't tell on them then your just as guilty as they are ! ( Some how my boys never believed that message .)

I always went with our boys when these things happened .We encouraged them to follow the Elders council and to be respectful . However towards the end I began to see how detrimental the brow beating was becoming , and finally stood my ground , and said ENough ! We walked out of one such session, and later the Elders apologized for over stepping our parental rights .

Once, I and my wife were called into the BR because of our children but we weren't the only ones. A couple of elders took it among themselves to interrogate all the children and their parents one afternoon. This interrogation led to many taddling on each other. We were the last set of parents to go in. After listening to the elders many comments on the children behaviors I brought up the many instances that they were only doing what they saw the other elders and their wives doing. I even related times, names, dates and the offenses they were guilty of. They admitted the guilt and the witch hunt was off. One of the elders interrogating knew nothing of the others offenses since he was new to the congo. He just sat there and looked at the other elder a little cockeyed. Shortly thereafter the elder and several others guilty of the same offenses as the children started moving to other congo's. What a crock-o-shit!!

One time for being caught at a rated "R" movie. The best part is that my mom ratted me out.

From that day forward I decided that I would never seek the elders help and council for anything. What I do is between me and o one else

Once, when I was 15 for keeping a huge pack of firecrackers (which are ilegal back home) for another 'brother'. I wasn't baptized then, but they took away the microphone handling 'priveleges'. The day after that, I left on vacation, when I came back to weeks later, the brother I was holding the fireworks for spoke on my behalf and my 'priveleges' had been restored...

Years later I had to go again because my roomates (we lived at an apartment inside the Kingdom Hall complex), specially one of them, had raised false accusations against me while I was out on holiday for a weekend with my family. All because they weren't doign their assigned chores around the complex and some elders noticed and call them on it. They thought I had ratted them out. During my abscence that weekend, the elders passed judgement in my abscence and decided to kick me out of the apartment and almost stripped me of being a regular pioneer...

It worked out for the better. I was pioneering and going to school, I didn't work, so one of the arrangements was that the other 2, who worked, would shop for groceries and I would prepare the meals. They never did, they would eat out ever so somedays I would hardly have anything to eat, or would have to wait for my mother to come to the meetings and she would bring me some food. Better yet, the living room furniture, 2 of the beds, the stereo, TV and VCR in the apartment were mine, so when I left, I took it all with me.

Several times. From things as silly as grooming laws to divination.

    Yep, that's right, divination.

We used to play some silly parlor game that would "predict" how many kids a woman would have and what sex they would be. It was nothing serious...just a game...but some dipwad sister got all offended and instead of saying something about being bothered with it, she ran to the elders. The elders had to have a meeting about how this game worked and in the end they determined (through their years of higher education and exorcising demons ) that this was inviting demons into the congregation and this practice should be stopped.
