Oh yeah, lets see... Appointed at 19... Elder at 26.... Surely not ready for those heady and heavy responsibilites.....

I can't imagine any elder having to enforce the pedophilia standard for the GB believing that holy spirit directs a damn thing this cult does....

Oh yeah, as it is very clear, being master of your domain is most assuredly NOT something the holy spirit sniffs out with a great deal of ease.....

No! Holy Spirit was magic. Not to be questioned.

yes, he is still a very big time hypocrite elder, he has the money, he donated land for the K.H., he was disfellowshipped when he was young, but I can tell he is STILL leading double lives, I can see thru it. He is still in because of his very wealthy JW parents. He is a VERY good speaker, I think that made him as an elder. It has nothing to do with holy spirit, none whatsoever!

I questioned them some time after they were appointed. All they were interested in was keeping me celibate and striking down any potential opportunities for me to meet the opposite sex, getting me to pio-sneer (and do it voluntarily, which would have been impossible after all the hounding they did), and join the Value Destroyer Training School. Everything was about forcing me into an assignment that I knew I was not suited for.

They also lacked reasonableness. Repeatedly, one of the hounders (that was supposed to be taking me home) would tell me that he was leaving in "just a minute". I would start timing his "minute" at this point, since that was usually a warning that we were leaving real soon and that I should start getting ready to leave (plus I had to work that afternoon). Invariably, his "minute" exceeded 5 minutes, and was extended several times. On many occasions, his "minute" would pass 10 minutes. This was not an isolated incident--he knew I had to work that afternoon, but he didn't give a f***. Plus, he wanted me to pio-sneer and to improve the quality of my field circus (and ultimately get everyone in the world into the cancer).

If the Unholy Spirit appointed that kind of people into positions above me, I really didn't want to be part of the New Dark Ages.

It was a constant gripe of mine to hear them say they have been appointed by "Holy Spirit", the guide lines set out in 1Tim. 3 1-11.

Verse 6 "do not appoint newly converted man, for fear he might get puffed up with pride and fall into judgement.

Was god speaking to himself, or was this a directive to someone else.

Verse 10. Let these be tested as to fitness first………………………….

How are they tested first………..in most cases their private lives are just that very private.

This was a perfect tool for the elders to have mastery over the r/f.

In most cases the person is not asked or told of his immanent change (to elder).

Therefore if a person has a problem (whatever) if he discloses it, it will be very obvious to the congregation that there is something wrong with that person, this person was not given the right time to make any adjustments.

So rather than allow the congregation to arrive at their own thoughts, the person will inevitably keep quite, thus another "Spiritual Leader" who does not meet the strict requirements set out in the scriptures.

I wasn't too concerned with the process because I couldn't be chosen.

Appointed as a servant at 19. Another member of the self-abuse club. Apparently this must actually be a normal practice.

A CO that I respected gave a talk in which he discussed that "not being hasty about the laying on of hands" scripture.

He said when an announcement was read that so-and-so had been appointed an elder, the reaction of the congregation should be: "Well, it's about time." But if the reaction is, "WTF?" then the judgment had been made in haste (he used a milder expression than WTF, but that's the idea).

Over the years, I heard a number of elder announcements that drew the latter reaction.
