For most males, it was a rite of passage. You were EXPECTED to become somebody, at least if you were raised devoutly to "reach out".
When Someone Was Appointed To A Position Did You Question Holy Spirit?

My best friend's father was an elder. He was also an abusive *expletive*. This man is really, really mentally ill. Out of seven children, only 1 one them will speak to him now. The one that speaks to him is just like him. Anyway, when I found out some of the things that were going on at home, it opened my eyes. No way was God involved in all this. There is no way God would appoint such a deviant man to a position of power of his sheeple.
He was deleted after a few things came to light. BUT, since all this was going on at the time he was appointed......I call bullsh*t.

I constantly abused myself, and I was never appointed. I'm starting to feel cheated.

I have a tape in my home somewhere, that tells of a person who infiltrated the Wts for the sole purpose of finding facts for some eastern country (whether it is authentic or not who knows), at the time I had no doubts of it’s contents.
Anyway the person was baptised, became M/S, then elder, arriving at the position of C.O.
He then handed all the addresses of the brothers and sisters to his superiors.
Did God who knew the intentions of this person STILL appoint him in all these POSITIONS !!!! Every step of the way.?

Yeah sure I have questions...who is this Holy Spirit guy and why doesn't he show his face....is he obese? Does he have bad acne or a huge birth mark on his mouth?

When I telephoned London Bethel re Michael Porter, convicted JW child abusing elder, now ex elder, I was told by a gentleman in the Media dept that
''we [Jehovah's Witnesses] do not believe any divine inspiration is involved in the appointment of elders''
How on earth Holy Spit is involved is anyone's guess.

wha happened?
oh yea, as some of us "matured" and were appointed, I knew the behavior of most of these people and what I learned was if u want to serve, u just have to learn who to suck up to. I wasn't a suck up so I never served. I absolutley hated that behavior and I refused to join in the masses on this.

Not "divine inspiration". Holy spirit.

On several occasions I questioned new appointments, and more often I questioned ongoing elders and HS.
I would ask things about conduct, mis-application of Scripture, wrong judgment on many occasions. I would usually hear the 'loyalty' question at this point - "Brother AK Jeff, do you accept that Holy Spirit is what directs these men?"
I usually answered this way: "To the extent that they act in accord with the Bible, which was inspired by Holy Spirit, to that extent they are being directed, appointed, lead by that Spirit. To the extent that they fail to do so, to that same extent Holy Spirit may be divorced from them. It is the possible rejection of me, you and the organization in all or part, by that same Holy Spirit, that leads me to ask you these questions."
Normally that ended the conversation. Though on one or two occasions I was administered the 'you are walking on thin ice' protocol at this point.

If the Society reviewed ALL elders at certain times, once every three years, for example, a lot of oldtime elders would have to be deleted. But as long as the good old boy system is in place, holy spirit is nowhere to be found!
