What else does this organization have to do in order for people to see their corruption????

you can rack up 6k in operating expenses quite quickly for any organization.

not to mention that hall is waiting around most of the year for people to come.

i think this is shortsightedness on your part, not corruption on theirs.

Along with the factors already mentioned, some of that expense depends on the Circuit Overseer's and/or DO's greed. Our last CO came up with over $1,000 in receipts for the elders' mandatory approval at the Circuit Assembly. I don't know what all was included, but knowing that ba$tard, it included a new suit for him, dress for the COW, and a new cell phone. Considering the provided car, insurance, all meals, apartment, etc. very little was coming out of their pocket, if anything. So, they keep their monthly reimbursement from the Corporation and ALL the green handshakes. If they've been in the circuit work for long, they'll get free trips to International Conventions. And they'll probably get invitations to go along with Brother Bigbucks on vacation.

If income for the Corporation doesn't improve soon, I imagine WTBTS will turn on the COs like the Revelation beast turning on the harlot.

Huh? Most Assembly Halls are occupied 52 weekends per year.

Do you really think a fully-paid off Assembly Hall generates 6600 X 52 weeks = $340,000+ per year in electric & water bills?

The assembly hall in St. Louis is not used 52 weekends a year. I know that from mid Nov to 2nd week of January it is not used for much. Over the summer, from mid-May to Sept 1 it is also not usually used except for a pioneer school and the Korean district assembly.

Other assembly halls, such as West Palm Beach Florida, are used almost every week except for 3-4 weeks to do major maintenance..otherwise it is is used for circuit assemblies, special assembly days, AND district conventions.

To the expenses...most has been covered. In Society owned facilities, the previous years expenses are totaled, an inflation percentage is factored in. That total is divided by the number of publishers in all of the congregations using the facility. That is where the "rent" for using the assembly hall comes from. And those expenses are not just for utilities...a lot of money goes into the upkeep of those facilities... I have seen the receipts myself for St. Louis..and that is an old facility. So those amounts are usually fairly reasonable for a commercial facility..and without the setup and take down hassle of using an outside facility. The problem of course is the "business meeting" where the other "resolutions" for donations are made. That last bit is what bugs me...the forced donations to the Society... the rank and file don't get a vote..and the elders better not buck the decisions of the assembly overseer and the CO/DO.

I presume that the publisher count is all publishers not just baptized. So even if it is $5-6 per publisher, do you think the 5 year olds or the 90 year old pensioners are donating their portion?

I just don't like the way the whole thing is presented. And of course the accounts are read before all the funds are brought in...if they waited until the last minute and announced a deficit (albeit smaller) they wouldn't get so many donations.

I have a question? how do they know exactly how much the water bill is for? doesnt the electric company have to send you a bill? same for the gas? how can they generate a bill that quickly in matter of hours? I think there just throughing numbers out there. I have never ever donated anything at all to any assembly and kingdom halls growing up.

I imagine the liability insurance is factored in, too- you never know when an df'd , worldly person or maybe even Danny Hazard could have a serious slip and fall accident in the assembly building and sue that pants off the Wt org!!

You wrote: ". . donations are presented to the publishers as expenses related to the cost of having the assembly."

That's what they are . . . to the publishers. Cash is the key to the kingdom.

    Billy the Ex:

I've heard of the CO and DO and all the rest, but the COW. Now that't funny.

It really is amazing looking at this arrangement from the outside. And they brag because they don't pass the plate. It amazes me how the intelligent people I know can't see what's going on.

Maybe this is off the topic, but in my city there was a K-Hall renovation planned. They said we had to raise $50,000. We did.

After the reno, they announced that they needed another $25,000. No explanation for why the extra amount.

The strange part was no one even questioned this. I have worked in construction and if you bid on a job and get it for $50,000, you can't go 50% over budget and not have to answer some real hard questions.

When they asked for a show of hands to agree to pay the extra, I didn't put up my hand.
