This paragraph was in yesterdays WT study article

Q 10. What shows that Jesus Christ is with his anointed followers?

10 Shortly before he ascended to heaven, the resurrected Jesus appeared to his faithful disciples and made a promise to them, say ing: "Look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." (Matt. 28:20) Has this promise proved reliable? In the last 15 years, the number of con gregations of ]ehovah's Witnesses worldwide has grown from some 70,000 to over 100,000--an increase of over 40 percent. And what about the new disciples added? Nearly 4.5 million disciples were baptized in the last 15 years-an average of more than 800 a day. These spectacular increases are clear evidence that Christ is directing his anointed followers at their congregation meetings and is supporting them in their disciple-making work.

If Matt 28:20 was fulfilled in 70CE why are they quoting it for this present time?

I was referring to the end of the time, that the JWs use in trying to determine when armagedon will come. I thought that was the end you were referring to?

    Thanks angel,

Based on 1Cor15:24 at the end of the 1,000 reign, only then will it be achieved that all government will be handed over to Jehovah. Given that there will be a 1,000 years to achieve this, it stands to reason that all governments will not fall at Armegeddon. Does that make sense?

4 Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power.

    Purps,

The 1 Cor. "end" of Jesus' 1000 year reign isn't the same as Matt. "conclusion of the system of things".

Botchtower says there are two fulfillments for Matthew's "conclusion of the system of things." The first century end of the Mosaic/Jewish system was the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome in 70 CE. The "Primary Fulfillment" as far as the dubs are concerned is the conclusion of Satan's system of things at the Great Tribulation/Armageddon... coming very, very soon now.

A thousand years later, after Jesus has rebuilt the global pair-uh-dice, everybody is perfect, and little J gives it all back to big daddy J. THE END... well except...

    *** re chap. 41 p. 300 par. 18 God’s Day of Judgment—Its Joyful Outcome! ***
Thus, the program that the apostle Paul describes in his letter to the Corinthians will come to completion: "For [Jesus] must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. As the last enemy, [Adamic] death is to be brought to nothing." What happens next? "When all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him." In other words, Jesus "hands over the kingdom to his God and Father." (1 Corinthians 15:24-28) Yes, Jesus, having conquered Adamic death through the merit of his ransom sacrifice, will hand over a perfected human family to his Father, Jehovah. It is evidently at this point, at the end of the thousand years, that Satan is released and the final test takes place to determine whose names will remain permanently recorded in the scroll of life. "Exert yourselves vigorously" so that your name may be among them!—Luke 13:24; Revelation 20:5.

So, there's "the conclusion", then a thousand years later "the end", which isn't really the end. It's the beginning of the end, since Satan is going to successfully distract BILLIONS to rebel and get slaughtered by big daddy J. Then it's the end of the end.

Thanks Billy!! The end never comes!

Something I would like to mention concerning the thousand year reign, mind you I am not a bible scholar, and have been away from JW bible teaching and any bible study for quite some time

BUT in this particular passage in Revelation it says that Satan is abyssed for a thousand years and that those priests and those that rule as kings with Jesus will do this for a thousand years, It does not say that Jesus will only reign for a thousand years.

20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 And he hurled him into the abyss and shut [it] and sealed [it] over him, that he might not mislead the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After these things he must be let loose for a little while.
4 And I saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them. Yes, I saw the souls of those executed with the ax for the witness they bore to Jesus and for speaking about God, and those who had worshiped neither the wild beast nor its image and who had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand. And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Happy and holy is anyone having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years.

I am coming into this late becasue of technical problem with my account.

Nevertheless, I am of the opinion that in Matt 28:20 our Lord refers to the "end of the Age", which could (and probably does) refer to entire Gospel Age; or until the Church is complete. That would take us up to Armageddon.

I DO NOT neccesarily believe that this is the same "end" that is referred to at Matt:24:13.

The phrase "the end" is definitly context-driven.

Also, I would like to comment on the QUESTION/ANSWER posted from the Watchtower.

I comment - If Jesus Christ IS "with" the Society's so-called "anointed followers", why is it that this great "disciple-making" includes almost NO MORE "anointed followers"??

It really is a lot of fun to examine what the scriptures say minus the GB influence. It is clear that there are several possible ways to interpret these passages. And it is just as clear that at the very least, the GB stretches the meaning and scope of these scriptures quite a bit to fit their dogma.

I always found it fascinating that when it comes to the concepts of the 144,000 or the 1000 year reign, there aren't 2 scriptures side by side next to each other in the same book and chapter. The GB must ALWAYS play connect the dots. (in much the same way they accuse Christendom of doing)

The hypocrisy reeks. Personally, one is better off coming to their own conclusions of what these scriptures mean. Better by yourself then with that cult....
