Elder Says My Daughter's Promotion & Job Success From Devil!

An elder and his wife paid my mom a friendly shepherding call and they asked how my ex was doing. She said, "fine, as far as she knows". Then they asked about my daughter and my mother praised her for her hard work and the fact that she won a special award within her company in which she gave a speech for, and then the former Bethel Elder said, "Well, that's how Satan the Devil gets people, through praise and making people feel that their work is more important than anything else". My mother said, "I'm sure all that experience in the Ministry School helped her".

I immediately said to my mother, "Like Satan must do to the elders when they're given praise for their talks at a Circuit Assembly"? She said, "I knowwwww".

Then I asked and what did they ask about me? They asked if I helped her as much as before. My mother answered that she depends upon me for doctor's visits, prescriptions and many other things. They questioned whether she thought any of us might "come back" and she answered that she didn't know.

I told her to tell anyone the next time, that since she "can't read anyone's heart, she can only leave it with Jehovah".

I tell ya, these people are so judgmental! And they're always looking for something.

Shucks mini, I wish Satan would help me right about now. I could use some success... and not the unpaid JW kind of crappy "success".

I remember remarks like this when I was looking to purchase my first home. If I found the right house then Jehovah was blessing me--if I didn't he was telling me I didn't need one. OR........if I found the right house, Satan did it and was trying to pull me out of the "truth".

Who the hell helped me find my house!

I prayed for a husband and got a total asswipe! Who answered that prayer???

"Well, that's how Satan the Devil gets people, through praise and making people feel that their work is more important than anything else".

What a dipshit. Using that logic, wouldn't that mean Satan is getting to all JWs, who feel that the preaching work is more important than anything else?

This guy lives in an addition that his "worldly" father-in-law built. I wish these pukes would look at reality.

I have never been as successful and career focused as I am now. I have no problem giving credit to Satan. Satan just needs to remeber that this is a long-term project and he better not give up too soon. The more he does the more I expect from him.

Sounds like Satan has done more for her than Jehoover has.

Yea, I remember these comments also. When we bought a "new" house most of the congregation was abuzz about it. It was an older home, but a big house in a good neighborhood. Many commented on how "materialistic" we had become. One elder said something about trying to take care of such a house would drag us out of the "truth".

Soon after some friends of ours in the hall bought a brand new house in a nice neighborhood. Again, the same comments.

But when an elder bought several acres of land and built a big McMansion on the hill, suddenly it became all the rage for all the dubs in the congregation who could afford new homes to move up in size and location. Even the pioneers that were renting apartments and over-the-garage rooms found the way to buy homes in nice neighborhood.

And of course there was an elder in the real estate and mortgage broker business that was there to help with all those dubs needs...
