Not to go off topic, but I noticed in the review of Gladwell's book that he refers to something called "The Matthew Effect," based on Jesus' parable of the talents.
Matthew 25:29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.
Cause/effect, action/reaction, play a significant part in shaping not only who we are, but what we are.

I'm white, but the black jws I knew tended to be more liberal with the shunnung rules. I wonder if it has to do more with racism rather than slavery. In other words, it's more difficult to turn on your own famly members when most, if not all have been discriminated against in other venues.

You know what... It's interesting that you mention this because I've only got one close black friend and he was dead before I faded but his wife is still in and he now comes over and hangs out at the house and she talks to me on the phone for 30-45 minutes every time I talk to mike it's like she couldn't care less that I'm out...
Never really thought about it before but that's interesting...
