Sorry restrangled. I am a squirrel fan. I even stop when one is crossing the road in front of me.

Loosie, I stop too! I Love the silly little buggers but when they start destroying feeders and bully the birds...I start getting mad. One of my tatics, since it's just outside my kitchen window,......I run the water and then spray them from my kitchen sink. They move, yell at me, and give the birds some time.

When I go out and shake my finger at them, they move up, but never leave. They know darn well I am not out to hurt them.

The latest tactic the dominant male has pulled off, is laying like a large exotic cat, with his legs hanging off the limb....napping.

At first I thought he was dead. There was no movement, legs hanging down, tummy balanced on a branch. When have you ever seen a squirrel still for 20 minutes? As soon as a bird showed up or another squirrel he would wake up and defend the 3 feeders he can no longer get to.

I hand raised 3 baby squirrels that fell out of a nest a few years ago....I'm wondering if I am now paying the piper for my good intentions.

    Can you believe this?????

LOL I have never seen a squirel still for any length of time. I don't get many birds in my yard because of my cats. but the squirrels do love to tease the cats from the trees. My cats are too fat to catch anything thank goodness.

I brake for squirrels too! I'd feel awful if I ever hit one. Almost did one time.....and when I swirved, I almost got into an accident. You just never know which way those little stinkers are going to run!

But, like restrangled said, when they hog all the birdseed and damage our feeders.....that's when we have to take action. Thus the Yankee Flipper! Heh heh Thanks for all the info on it, restrangled. Am really looking forward to getting mine!

Stinkin' raccoons! This is the price we pay living the country life, I guess.

Lavender,....I'm sorry I have to laugh about the stinking raccoons.....

I feed them too, along with opposums. I don't sleep well, so will wake up in the middle of the night and see a line up. Raccoon first, opposum behind not 3 feet from me some nights. Not near the bird feeders, those big boys/girls are in my backyard. I go out and have a cig..( I know very bad)...if my dog wakes up and comes with me no vermin! But some nights..... some very cute, very large bodies, feasting on a bowl of cat food. The Opossum had 8 babies. How can anyone resist a mom and her babies?!!!!

I love animals.....everything except rats, snakes and spiders.

LOL Restrangled, I bought less expensive cat food thinking I was saving money. dumb cats won't eat it. So I went back to the regular cat food. So I am putting the less expensive cat food in the Opossum/Raccoon bowl. The raccoon is now obese.

Me too! But rats are kinda cute, and spiders are good guys (even if they aren't animals )

Beks, I didn't want to admit to it, but yes, those silly rodents (rats) are kind of cute....as long as they are not in my garage or attic, honestly they don't make me jump or scream. There just a squirrel with a bad outfit.

Spiders, ...I'm deathly afraid of...I think its called aracnaphopia. I can't even be in the same room without having a nervous breakdown.

    Snakes....don't get me started.

I've got pileated and red bellied woodpeckers here.

And lots of bats. I am thinking of setting up some bat houses for them in the woods around the house.
