BTS -- You're fortunate you have lots of bats. They keep the pesky flying insect population down. I'd love to put up Purple Martin houses (they eat flying insects too)....but we have so many large trees around our property. The Martins like to have their houses in OPEN areas.

I think a bat house would be a great idea!

    Restrangled,

My Yankee Flipper arrived today...but guess what? One of the little green tabs on the screw-on base had broken off! Waaaaaaa! We noticed something was rattling when we were unpacking it. I am so disappointed! I contacted the seller, and he's going to get ahold of the manufacturer. He said they'd send me a new screw-on base.

Apparently, those little plastic tabs have been causing a big problem for them. If they'd just make the base out of metal, that would eliminate the problem.

So, I have to wait some more until I can watch the squirrels go airborn!! Darn, darn, darn!!

Lavender! How strange...the same thing happened to me and I called the company direct. I was furious. It still works, but won't trust a squirrell flip in that condition.....which has yet to happen.

I ordered mine from Amazon.com. but called the manufacturer direct. They knew instantly what part I was talking about and asked no questions. I should be receiving it tomorrow. The feeder is up and works great. Just waiting for this part.

    r.

My wife and I also like to feed the birds... but we don't have no fancy birdfeeders.

What we do is save biscuits or cornbread from restaurants - or other breads - and toss it out onto the ground for the birds to see.

Birds have some sort of built-in 'food' radar, and can see something edible from miles away.

I toss out old bread here at home - and just toss it into the street outside. Birds will land within 5 minutes and start eating it.

The cats will sit and watch them. Sometimes - the cats will eat parts of the bread - silly cats.

It's fun to watch the birds come get the food and eat it.

You're right Jim....the birds DO have some sort of "food radar"! I don't know if they see it...or smell it...or what; but they sure know it's there!

Now if I could just get those pesky squirrels to lose my address!!
