    Hi oompa,

    Yes we have it!

    Acts 1:8 (New International Version)

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

The power if not from the "knowledge" gained through hundreds of hours of studying the "teachings" of the WT but the power of Almighty God's Holy Spirit living inside us and guiding us.
    Zechariah 4:6 (New International Version)

6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are awesome when you see them in action.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (New International Version)

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, [ a ] and to still another the interpretation of tongues. [ b ] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

    All the best,

    Stephen

1 Cor.13:8 mentions that some of the gifts would cease or be done away with, which does seem too bad for a least a few of us. Like, Oomps, I've got a back that gives me trouble too, but at least now we have the technology to have foam mattresses now and reclining chairs, which do help ease the pain/ discomfort. We have ended up with a trade-off, IMO.

The contradiction is that Jesus was calling his disciples witnesses to Jesus, not Jehovah. The washtowel changed that to "Jehovah" from "Jesus". Sure sounds like someone is tampering with the Bible, despite the warning against doing so.

    What about Isaiah 43:10?

    What about Isaiah 43:10?

"YHWH" was talking to his people, not prophesying the existence of the group that got renamed by that drunken womanizer Rutherford "Jehovah's Witnesses".

    Hi Spike,

    Yes what about Isaiah 43:10?!

    Isaiah 43:10 (New International Version)

10 "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD,
"and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.

It says "no god was formed" before God but yet the WT teach God created Jesus, "a god"?!

    No, as Jesus said

    John 10:30 (New International Version)

30 I and the Father are one."

I am a witness to Jesus as He commanded and thus a witness to the Father.
    John 14:6 (New International Version)

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

    All the best,

    Stephen

What does the term LORD refer to, if not YHWH (English, Jehovah)? Check the "Preface of the New International Version", and you'll see what I mean. It's in paragraph 15 in the August 1983 preface revision edition that I have.

Spike, all you have shown is that the bible is not fluid, but contradicts itself with its two gods. YHWH and Jesus. Thats it. Take it at face value, and you will find that the god of Israel is speaking to the Israelites. (if you want to take it literally at all.)

Face value re Isaiah 43:10 is fine on one level, but often prophesy has more than one fulfillment, as is shown when Luke and Paul etc. apply the OT words to a new context. JWs are keeping to this fine holy tradition, I submit, when in 1931 this verse was applied to what what then the International Bible Students. Also, even the name "Jesus" is short for "Jehovah provides salvation". Therefore, if one recognizes Jesus for who he is, that one must also recognize Jesus' submission to Jehovah's will. Jesus said, after all, "Let not my will take place, but yours" or its equivalent if his words are translated into modern English from the original language. With Jesus voluntarily doing Jehovah's bidding by giving up his heavenly position for 30+ years, and then dying voluntarily when he could have refused to fulfill Jehovah's prophecy, this opened up the way for us human mortals to have the hope of everlasting life, as long as we follow the direction found at John 17:3.

I submit that "Spike" is short for "Spiked" if you believe that A. The Bible even prophesied about the existence of the WTBTS and that B. Is 43:10 is a prophesy about what the name of the true religion would be.... Are you kidding?

Spike, I went to Gilead. I am not saying that to impress you, I am rather ashamed of that. But I got to know the company BS all too well.

JW's are taught that the bible specifically was preserved to point to their existence after 1914. That is the main point of the bible as far as the GB is concerned.

Believe that if you want. Your beliefs tell more about you then anything. It's simply not true.
