Hi Jeff,
I love your posts so please forgive me in advance but I must respond to this!
Spike, all you have shown is that the bible is not fluid, but contradicts itself with its two gods. YHWH and Jesus. Thats it. Take it at face value, and you will find that the god of Israel is speaking to the Israelites. (if you want to take it literally at all.)
The contradiction only exists in the WT teachings!
I believe Jesus is God, not "a god", that He and the Father are one, not two. I believe Jesus always existed, not that he was created as "mighty god" by "Almighty God". No, Jesus is Mighty God and the Father is Almighty God, they are one.
The same verse in Isaiah 9, Jesus is described as Everlasting Father! I wonder why?
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End and so too is the Father. Check your bibles!
Yes Jesus and the Father are one.
No contradiction, side stepping, convoluted answers, just plain and simple.
All the best,
Stephen

one in thought, not in identity. There are various other Bible translations that concur with the NWT one this. I have several of them on my shelves though my mind is not clear as to which ones they might be just now. It's been a while since I looked these points up. This forum moves too quick for me on points like this, but others may be able to help me on this.

Spike,
"1 Cor.13:8 mentions that some of the gifts would cease or be done away with, which does seem too bad for a least a few of us. Like, Oomps, I've got a back that gives me trouble too, but at least now we have the technology to have foam mattresses now and reclining chairs, which do help ease the pain/ discomfort. We have ended up with a trade-off, IMO."
1 Cor. 13:8
Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with
So when exactly did the bible say these gifts would cease? What was the date on that? When did knowlege cease?

Hi androb,
So when exactly did the bible say these gifts would cease? What was the date on that? When did knowlege cease?
Of course we know the answer is in the very next verses.
Corinthians 13:10-12 (New International Version)
10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
Jesus is the perfection who is coming.
Hebrews 4:14-15 (New International Version)
Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, [ a ] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.Revelation 22:12-13 (New International Version)
12 "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
1 John 3:2 (New International Version)
2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, [ a ] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Matthew 5:8 (New International Version)
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.All the best,
Stephen

One of the posters said Jesus was created and he was not created. He was the Creator. The Wesley Bible Commentary I am quoting from is well known and is excepted and trusted by many scholars and Bible Students in seminaries. Here is a brief quote on the scripture John 1:1
Orangefatcat;
Joh 1:1 - In the beginning - (Referring to Gen_1:1, and Pro_8:23.) When all things began to be made by the Word: in the beginning of heaven and earth, and this whole frame of created beings, the Word existed, without any beginning. He was when all things began to be, whatsoever had a beginning. The Word - So termed Psa_33:6, and frequently by the seventy, and in the Chaldee paraphrase. So that St. John did not borrow this expression from Philo, or any heathen writer. He was not yet named Jesus, or Christ. He is the Word whom the Father begat or spoke from eternity; by whom the Father speaking, maketh all things; who speaketh the Father to us. We have, in Joh_1:18, both a real description of the Word, and the reason why he is so called. He is the only begotten Son of the Father, who is in the bosom of the Father, and hath declared him. And the Word was with God - Therefore distinct from God the Father. The word rendered with, denotes a perpetual tendency as it were of the Son to the Father, in unity of essence. He was with God alone; because nothing beside God had then any being. And the Word was God - Supreme, eternal, independent. There was no creature, in respect of which he could be styled God in a relative sense. Therefore he is styled so in the absolute sense. The Godhead of the Messiah being clearly revealed in the Old Testament, (Jer_23:7; Hos_1:6; Psa_23:1,) the other evangelists aim at this, to prove that Jesus, a true man, was the Messiah. But when, at length, some from hence began to doubt of his Godhead, then St. John expressly asserted it, and wrote in this book as it were a supplement to the Gospels, as in the Revelation to the prophets.
