Not gonna happen, we made the mess, we fix it.

Really? Who invented heart disease and malaria and cancer? Which man is responsible for the viscious nature of the crocodile that ate a man in Queensland last week? How about hurracaines? Who made that mess? What ruler is responsible for mental illness and downs-syndrome? How about whooping cough? What about the Spanish Flu? You know the one that killed millions of people? Please tell me the inventor of that 'mess'!

How about lifespan - only 80 years - religion says it is due to the sin of Adam. What? Why did my granddad have to die because a naked man in a garden in the middle-east listened to his naked wife and a talking snake and ate a bite from God's special tree? My granddad did not do that - neither did I - yet I will die because of the same ailment!

If some scientists are correct, sometime future a very large rock from space will hit our blue planet. It will cause a dust cloud that will block the sun, stop all photosynthesis, the earth will go into deep freeze as a result of lack of sunlight. You and I, or our descendents, will starve and freeze to death, choking on the dust. What did man do to create [or deserve] that?

How do we fix those things, sir? Those messes that clearly have origin outside of man's sphere of influence. Will God then intervene, only when the catastrophe is 'large enough' to satisfy his egocentricity? Or will that too, interfere with 'free will of man'?

It is those things that have no origin with man that completely devastate your arguments. Or will you persist that 'only good comes from God', so these things must originate with other powerful spirits in opposition to God, the 'Devil' for instance?

    Jeff,

If you truly believe that God is responsible for all that you stated and what is yet possible to come, well, then I guess that you are quite correct to have issues with God, IF MY God was liek that, I would probably have issues with him too !!
    LOL !

Well, you could accept Calvinism and then accept that you are not one of the Chosen. You are among the group Predestined for eternal torment.

Well - Who do you believe responsible for the things I mention? How did man bring that upon himself? It was your statement that man needed to fix his own messes.

Let's just start with Malaria. How is that man's fault, man's mess?

What is your God liek? Only responsible for the 'good' - while the bad is of no significance at all? I don't get that.

    Hi Jeff,

Is the prayer sincere or just a rant?

If you want to rant then continue on with the masses.

If you sincerely want to find the living God then suspend your grievances for a bit and maybe try my suggestion?

    All the best,

Its not God's will, it never really has been, not if we are to believe we have free will.

It falls on US to make changes we need to make and to make a difference in this world, the best we can ask God for is the strenght to do it.

To ask God to fix this and that, well, that is taking the responsibility for what we (people) have done and do, out of our hands.

Not gonna happen, we made the mess, we fix it.

With all due respect, simple answers to complex, difficult questions are not only not satisfying, they often don't address the core question. At best, yours puts the questioner in a double bind.

    Hi Jeff,
Is the prayer sincere or just a rant?

Sincere, or at least it was at one time.

I cannot apply your suggestion, with due respect. I do not accept the NT as any different than any other man made book. The writers of the NT are the very ones who suggest that I need 'faith' before I find proof of the object of said faith.

I am much closer to being able to accept my native-american brethren view of the 'Great Spirit' than the Christian God. But even that holds some serious pitfalls.
