Thanks, I'm working thru my junk like everyone else, we all know how difficult it is to fathom how we gave such a huge chunk of our lives to a religion that betrayed us on so many levels.

You should know also that I completely understand the need for people joining a Church for friendship and a sense of community.

    Take care

According to the Holy Bible, Jehovah is THE true god.

There was no documented mention of Jehovah before the 13th century when a Catholic monk mentioned him. Jehovah is not an individual god, but is a composite god of YHWH, Lucifer and Jove (Jupiter). If that is your idea of a true god then worship your little heart out.

Please allow me to answer the question with a Bible principle:

"Let God be FOUND true ..."

    It's in the pudding!

No, the god Jehovah, evolved over thousands of years. The information is easy to find, search for the "Hebrew God and where he came from". There's also hints in the bible, I can't believe I never saw it, for 30 years in witness world. The Jehovah character was a lesser god, when the almighty god or "El (according to the bible) was assigning each lesser god a group of peoples (which in ancient times was the norm) he gave Israel to YHWH or Jehovah and this was his inheritance from "El" (Deuteronomy 32:8-9). I recommend getting a Hebrew interlinear, if not it's really hard to distinguish when they are referring to YHWH or El, it's cleverly been translated "Lord" and "Almighty God", I did my research using the interlinear if not, I don't think I ever would have ever seen the "Truth". Also, there's references in the bible of the "Volcanic" nature of YHWH in the beginning.

I'm just saying,,he can be the true god because he won in a pissing contest of the gods. I think Thor came in second place so we can call him the runner up true god.

"Jehovah God" is the one who gave the man [later known as Adam] the command about the fruit in Genesis 2.

In Genesis 3, "Jehovah God" walked in the garden and spoke face-to-face with Adam, the woman [later known as Eve], and the serpent [later known to be Satan].

According to Genesis chapter 18 and 19:1, "Jehovah" and "two angels" are together known as "three men".

How does that fit in, IC, with your belief that "El (Shaddai)" is greater than "Jehovah God" (i.e. "YHWH El")? This "volcanic" beginning of YHWH sounds interesting, also. Could you elaborate on that?

As some of you know, I have been using the last few weeks to completely re-evaluate all my beliefs. I have started reading the bible without any religious interpretation. I have come to the conclusion that if this book has divine authorship then it doesn't matter who the true god is I don't want to worship him, her or it.

I have also been thinking about the scale of the universe and the Earth's place in it. Our galaxy is like a microdot in the Universe and the Earth is a microdot in the galaxy. We are microdots on the surface of the Earth. Even less significant than the ants in my garden are to me. Why do we presume that we are so important that we are the creator's pride and joy, made in his image - oh yeah because the bible tells we are!

    What was bible written for?

In the past I have always looked around me and me and seen what can only be described as design. The probability that this could all come about by chance is impossible. Well guys I was wrong. With the vast scale of the Universe any scenario is possible, including what we see here on earth, accident is as much a probability as a creator. The bible tries to provide answers to questions that we may never know the answers to, written by men who speculated on what little understanding of the universe they had at the time.

Those writers lived in a time where disputes were settled by violent conflict, is not surprising the god they created used violence to keep his creation in order and favoured the nation of people in which the writers who created him lived.

Yes God, be it Jehovah, Jesus, some form a trinity Zeus, Pluto, whoever - is just a construct to help people make some sense of what they could observe.

so, it depends on one's faith as constructed, then, or another one's faith as deconstructed
