to Satanus: Jehovah is beyond any human ruler, even a king, in majesty and power. Without due submission and respect, we get no hearing from him. He is certainly not imaginary; the Universe wouldn't be here without Him to create it.

to frankiespeakin: Faith is certainly NOT gullibility, though some have suggested otherwise. According to Jack J. Blanco's Clear Water paraphrase of Hebrews 11:1. Now to have faith means to be sure of the things we hope for and to be certain of the things we can't see.

To illustrate:— We hope for morning to follow evening. We are sure of our hope in morning following evening because of what we have observed so far. So putting these two sentences here together means that we have FAITH in morning following evening.

To illustrate again, we are certain of the wind in various respects, even though we cannot see the wind, but only its effects. Snce we are certain of the wind in various respects, we have FAITH in the wind in the aspects we are certain of, even if the forecasts are predicting that wind to be a tornado or hurricane that will come in the path of our home, and even though this means taking precautionary measures and fleeing our home until the destructive wind is no longer a threat for us or our belongings.

to frankiespeakin: The account of Elijah's test on Mount Carmel, Jehovah versus Baal, is recounted in detail at 1 Kings 18. It proved then who the true God was. Learning and studying the fulfillments of Bible prophesies in detail, including prophesies currently undergoing fulfillment, help to substantiate our faith in Jehovah as the true God.

our lack of faith in Jehovah prevents Jehovah from helping us

Here is the root of the problem. The JW is taught to have faith in "jehovah". However, it is clear that they have things the wrong way round.

    John 12:44 (English Standard Version)
44 And Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.

    John 13:20 (English Standard Version)

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."

    John 14:6 (English Standard Version)

6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

    All the best, Stephen

John 13:20 (NWT) records Jesus' statement this way:— "Most truly I say to YOU, He that receives anyone I send receives me [also]. In turn he that receives me, receives [also] him that sent me."

There was a man stranded on a roof top when a flood hit his town, a man came by in a rubber boat ans asked if he wanted help and he said he would wait for God to help him.

A row boat came by with 3 people and they had room for him, but he said he woudl wait for God to help him.

Another boat came by and he said the samething, then he slipped off the roof and drowned, why? because God "didn't help him"...

A man prayed everyday to God to win the lottery, he did this for 50 years !

One day during his routine prayers and asking God to help him win the lottery he looked up and saw a bright light and there stood God and he said, " Help me out here, buy a fucking ticket !!"

    Nice parables PS.

Of course, Jesus is the boat who takes us to the other side as He is the ticket with which we win the lottery.

JWs are busy buying counterfeit tickets with "jehovah lotteries inc." stamped on them but unfortunately are worthless.

    All the best,

    Stephen

'Without due submission and respect, we get no hearing from him. '

I knew that you would say that it was somehow my fault. Without resorting to flagellation and the other mortification practices that the religious used in the middle ages, i matched those requirements very well, when i was religious. I'm sure that you will now go on to suggest some other short coming that i had that prevented jehovah from doing something.

That is all fine. And yet, many ot men of faith did quite well without jesus. They went DIRECTLY to god. They brought down fire from heaven, walked on water, split the waters, did magic tricks, resurrected, etc. Yet, even WITH jesus, you can't do ANY of those.

    Satanus,

What I am about to say my sound very controversial for some but, I do NOT believe that one needs to beleive in Jesus or God to be saved.

For a christian, faith in Jesus and God is paramount, that is what being a Christian is all about.

For those that do not believe, atheist for example, it is a non-issue, whether you believe in God doesn't change the fact that IF he does exist, your belief in him is irrelevant for his existence.

IF he is all knowing and all powerful he KNOWS you, what is in your heart, we you believe or don't believe, why you do what is right or don't do it.

Matter of fact, I think that God probably holds those that do the right thing, those that are righteous in his view, and DON'T believe in Him, in a pretty high regard.

Afterall, doing what is right because you want soemthing from God ( Salvation) is far less "special" than doing what is right because it is right.

to PSacramento: Actually, Jehovah condemns the ways honouring the God of Good Luck, and Jehovah also is holy, and doesn't use profanity. Even thisForum has, as one of its Posting Guidelines: To ensure all users feel safe and keen to participate, please avoid:3. Swearing, using hate-speech or making obscene or vulgar comments.

to Satanus: Revelation 4:9-11 [with footnoted portion expanded and highlighted] gives an excellent example of the attitude we all should imitate:— 9 And whenever the living creatures offer glory and honor and thanksgiving to the one seated upon the throne, the one that lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders [Greek, pres·by´te·roi.] fall down before the One seated upon the throne and worship the One that lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 11 "You are worthy, Jehovah [See Appendix 1D.], even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."

Revelation 12:12 indicates part of the reason that Jehovah's power may appear lacking to many:— "On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time."
