Cognac: "He's never agreed with the whole fractions thing. He said that's raised a lot of red flags with him and for the life of him he said he just doesn't get it and it doesn't make any sense."

It was the fractions thing that really started me thinking. Actually, as pubs started asking Bethelite Billy for more explanations since the litteratrash gave nothing when all fractions became a conscience matter. As I saw reasons that fractions were okay, I saw no reason to refuse whole blood when medically necessary. Looking at the scriptures made it clear that dietary restrictions and butchering procedures had no place in making life-and-death medical decisions.

Really, Botchtower has made a corporate decision establishing that it's more inportant to die for the organization than to live for God.

Glad to hear about your husband! He's making real progress outta that cult!

The thing about the whole blood doctrine is that it has gotten really, really messy. I recently spoke to an aunt about how she would have let my grandmother die rather than try to explain to the doctors which fractions are acceptable (or how to explain what blood procedures are acceptable altogether). I was stunned because the GB has had such a terrifying effect on these JW's. Rather than try to understand why it's OK to accept fractions or blood products, JW's would rather die! They feel that Jehovah is going to look at them as an acceptable sacrifice...but He's not! I've also been showing some detailed information about the blood doctrine to my mom, and she couldn't believe that "fractions" were taken from blood! She thought fractions were simply conjured up out of "other things". For example, I showed her that the Society allows JW's to accept all of the fractions taken from plasma, just not plasma itself. And she stopped, and stared, and started thinking. I let it slide for the rest of that day, but I plan to continue with her. She wasn't mad at me showing her this. If anything, she was glad, and she even stated that she just didn't know enough.

I personally believe that EVEN IF the GB decided to allow all JW's to accept all blood products, JW's would STILL feel that it's wrong, and that it's OK to die instead. That's the key part: It's OK to die, Jehovah will overlook it.

It takes a LOT of time and patience, but one by one, we can extract our families from this evil cult...

civicsi00... exactly! My father who is in his 80s will not accept the fractions. He's still in the 'no blood at all' mentality. When the mind gets older, it doesn't accept changes readily, especially ones that could potentially deny you everlasting life.

While it is true that a number of Witnesses would still not take blood, even if it were made a "conscience matter", there are plenty of Witnesses that would.

My parents signed off immediately when fractions were suddenly allowed and I know full well that after what happened to dad a couple of years ago, they'd take blood if it meant saving their life.

    Great news!

    Thanks for the update.

Too bad you won't get to bask in the reflected prestige of being the wife of an MS though.

I'm sure you'll muddle through somehow.

First of all, continued best wishes to you and yours, Cognac!

And these incidents made my blood run cold...

Farkel said: Have you heard about the guy who wandered into NY Bethel after serving in the War. He started working there and eventually became a JW. He gave his entire adult life to service of the Watchtower Corporation. When he was old, he started speaking out loud at the breakfast table and cursing, and it got worse. He was counseled about it, but didn't stop. So they threw him out of Bethel, and he was left to beg on the street. The WTS told Bethel members NOT to help him out. He was found covered with a newspaper and frozen to death on the street that winter.

He almost certainly had Turret's Syndrome; it was something he couldn't help. So, in essence, the WTS murdered this man because he had a medical condition they didn't like. If the WTS headquarters treats a lifelong Bethel brother like this, don't be surprised if the CO doesn't do anything, either.
And then Mary said: There was another similiar experience in a congregation in Arizona a couple of years ago. This sister was acting really bizarre, would show up at the meetings, spit on the brothers and start swearing. The elders claimed that she was obviously demunized (she's a witch!---Burn 'er!) and banned her from the KH.

I said to the person who told me this "for crissakes, she obviously has Turret syndrome. Instead of banning her, why the hell doesn't someone take her to the doctors office and get some medication for it?"

You know, I keep thinking that nothing about the Watchtower Organization can surprise me, but awful shocks just keep on comin'.
