I too was told that I would never get to high school. Well I finished high school in 1974. I was told I would never get old enough to get married and have children in this system. Well I did. When I did have my child when I was almost 30 I was told that he would still be a young child when the new system came. Well he is now 19 and he has finished high school. He will soon be old enough to have his own children.

So how many real generations make up this mythical generation of the WTS?

Hi Mr.Flipper, that is a good topic. In fact that was the end of the WT in my life after they changed the "understanding" of the generation in 1994...I was really mad about it. I left school to pioneer during the mid 80's the end was so close and there was no time to waste at all in this dying system...

I lost everything just to follow a banch of old fools made in U.S. Then I got really mad when I read the master piece by Ray Franz 'Crisis of Conscious", and Yionson's "Gentile Times reconcidered"...I feld so betrayed by the of the GB and the Org...

I realized that my life was just begining at the age 0f 39 when finally I was disfellowsiped. There is nothing I can do to get my best years of my life back, but at least I will not waste any more time for that evil cult. I have my own life and I 'm in control of it.

I know that the WT and their GB are "Nowhere man, sitting in their nowhere land making all his nowhere plans for nobody"

Great thread Flipper. I agree with Billy and Hopscotch. I didn't think I'd finish school because it was so drummed into us about the generation and 1975. I still believe in Jehovah, just not in men!! I wish I could find the truth...

It's all a scam. Keep people distressed, so you can promise deliverance. Of course, never give the actual deliverance.

I predict the same crap will be going on as long as mankind is on the earth--possibly another religion, possibly Jehovah's Witlesses after they have plunged us all into the Second Dark Ages. There is always a major religion that the majority of people listen to that claims that the end is at hand, and that was true even before Jesus was born (yes, there were "saviors" born before Jesus).

And they need to lie about what a generation is because they cannot let the time of deliverance actually come into the present or past. It always has to be in the near future--Jehovah's Witlesses use a time frame of about two years, while mainstream Christians have a time frame closer to 20-50 years. And, if the witlesses are going to maintain a two year time frame for deliverance, sooner or later they are going to have to bail out on their definition of a generation when the existing one comes due. They need just another two years at a time to pull off this scam.

SoM: "Billy, you seem to be an individual full of sarcasm and just plain rudeness. How about you create a thread and debate me, the faithful and discreet slave. Leave the sarcasm at the doror and I will reveal to all everything that I have seen and expereinced."

You believe that we should NOT talk about Watchtower teachings and practices on Jehovahs-Witness.net, and you're calling me "sarcastic" and "rude" for pointing out this forum as the exact place to discuss such things? That's called "argumentum ad hominem". You're changing the subject to launch a personal attack on my character.

Unless you provide a generous salary, you are not the boss of me. Start your own thread and debate yourself.

well the only issue is that didnt jesus refer to the pharisees as a "wicked generation" ? and they certainly lasted more than 30 years, no?

that is what the "new light" was based on.

    mraimondi,

If I understand your questions, you're thinking of the old new light.

In '94, then 80 years after 1914, they changed it to "wicked generation" that was all contemporaneous wickedly living at the same time, whatever time. It was so obscure and ethereal as to be meaningless to our or any time period. Kind of like saying, "whenever it comes, that was THE generation".

So, the new new light, this year's flavor, involves not a "wicked generation", but is tied to "the faithful and discreet slave" as this generation. So, their new interpretation starts the generation with Jesus disciples who were listening to him (technically 33 CE, when holy spirit was poured out on "the anointed"). The generation spans about 2000 years to "the anointed 'faithful and discreet slave' class" today. Since the Bible says "this generation will not pass away", their interpretation is that their will still be some "anointed" JWs still alive when the Great Tribulation arrives.

Hows that for a complete stretch of the term "generation"... nearly 2000 years.

Of course, parts of Revelation, their interpretation, need to be revised accordingly.

SoM is obviously distracted when he responds to you, as god IS on the other line. It's hard to have 2 discussions at once.... Those faithful slaves have a lot of people they talk to in their head... This we know....
