Dude - In the next 200 years or so there will be MORE Tsunami's and MORE powerful earthquakes ! It has been going on for centuries. Just have to accept that fact and deal with it.

  ALL TIME JEFF- No apologies necessary . I agree the WT society tries to act like none of this " generation " prediction mattered - and it was no big deal they changed their story 2 million times onwhat a " generation " was. But it DOES matter, it matters A LOT.

  HOPSCOTCH- Good points you make. You and I are about the same age - so having been raised in the witnesses we both experienced the anticipation and buildup right before the 1975 false prediction fiasco. I remember Circuit Overseers and District Overseers getting all excited from the platform saying, " If Jehovah wills we will have another assembly next summer in 1975 ! We may be in the Paradise- but we will still have provisions for assemblies ! We don't know if we'll be in this system or the new system but keep watchful and on the watch ! " I remember thinking as a 15 year old teenager hearing that in 1974 - " How do they KNOW we will be in a Paradise ? " It seemed very arrogant of them to whip up emotional frenzy about a Paradise to all the people sitting in the crowd.

  Like yourself I now have children in their 20's - three of them grown and married ! Now here we are 35 years later. There is no such thing as ANY " generation " teaching. It was all an illusion to entrap people.

  JUSTHUMAN 14 - I feel for you bro. Giving up your education for the organization. Like yourself - I felt I could have gone on to college ad done something more in a vocation than cleaning people's toilets. But at least I'm damn good at that now ! It's good you have control of your life now and in the future. You are right - the GB are " nowhere men " taking their followers to nowhere fast.

  MRAIMONDI- There is no such thing as " new light ". It's just an excuse for trying to explain the " old light ". It never adds up or makes sense.

  BILLY the EX- BETHELITE- Good points you make. The WT society would make the " generation " teaching last forever if they could. Come to think of it that's EXACTLY what they are trying to do ! They have no choice because they've screwed up predicting so many dates now - it HAS to be an incalculable date !

  PSACRAMENTO- Yeah, I think Son of Man is humping his own mind constantly ! It's why it's so worn out !

  BLUES BROTHER- Yeah, there might not be a vriation of the turning of the shadow with God - but with the GB and WT society their variation of dates, definition of generation, etc. turns and changes ALL the time

  Woops ! I missed responding to ETNA ! Sorry Etna ! Like you I was promised this too as a teenager in the 1970's. You stated " I wish I could find the truth ". Well my friend, don't despair. The " truth " is within each one of us. WE ARE the truth ! We find our own truth within us in living our lives authentically, lovingly, and helping the world be a better more peaceful place individually !   lying is saying Jw's deliberately decieved and with generation we all thought it was true, sometimes it's time that refines the wrong idea. Jw's learned the hard way that we are on God's timetable not man's. So Jw's didn't lie unless lying includes not knowing yourself, which it doesn't.

  They plainly said that the generation that saw 1914 would not pass away. Period. They passed this info off as gospel truth. They were wrong. They lied.

  RENIAA- As Undercover says the WT society and Jehovah's Witnesses taught this teaching for many, many years as absolute TRUTH that the generation that saw 1914 would NOT pass away before Armageddon came. It was untrue, a lie. Rutherford promised in the 1920's that " millions now living will never die" . Most of them are all dead. That's the truth, reality. God's timetable and definition of " generation " I'm sure is the same I've read in my dictionary- 30 to 40 years. Blind faith is bliss to some people the way " ignorance is bliss " as well.

  This is literally my favorite JW subject. I posted this info awhile back:

  William Miller said that Jesus' Return would be in 1844. (See The Great Disappointment at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Disappointment ) People who believed what he said were known as "Millerites." It (Jesus' return) didn't happen. This return of Jesus was also known as his second advent, and believers came to be known as Adventists.
  
  Adventist Jonas Wendell suffered in his faith at the Great Disappointment, but later carried the same type of "Millerites" talk in a sermon where Wendell had picked the new date of 1873 or 1874 for Jesus' 2nd return (after studying Bible chronology and being wrong about 1868). 18 year old C. T. Russell heard Wendell in 1870 speak of such a date. Wendell had already published The Present Truth, or Meat in Due Season highlighting such dates. So Wendell invented those terms that would haunt the WT organization and morph into New Light and food at the proper time.
  
  Wendell died in August of 1873, probably confident that his 1873 to 1874 date was correct. When Jesus didn't appear as expected, Russell still believed it (or at least wanted to keep selling pamplets that explained it). He taught that Jesus must have returned invisibly, meaning that Jesus was ruling from Heaven starting in 1874. He taught that 40 years later, a literal application of how long a "generation" was, in 1914, Jesus would take power on the earth. That would mean an end to the Gentile Times in 1914 and an end to the last days- destruction and death and stuff.
  
  Because World War One (coincidentally) started in 1914, Russell used that as a sign that he was correct in his complicated doctrines. He was already good at reinventing understanding rather than admitting he was wrong.

  The rest is smoke and mirrors, continually being wrong and changing the doctrine. 1874 was eventually ditched and every last bit of their last-days doctrine was tied to 1914. Afterall, World War One started then and they had so many books/magazines/pamphlets that pointed to 1914.
  
  They totally misrepresent their own past when they say what they claimed about 1914. It was to be the end of the last days. Their math to arrive at 1914 was worked backwards and 607 BCE is absolutely pulled out of errors. Heck, they used to say 606 BCE but they discovered in their math that they forgot there was no year "Zero."

  I think SoM believes he's one of the anointed and I've noticed he's posting pattern to be quite similar to JCannon but I don't think they are one and the same. I've seen him here before. (Mrsjones)

  I am "to be" anointed in The Kingdom of GOD. Many people misunderstand that the anointing is for kings, and cannot happen unless you sit upon a throne like David.144,000 kings and priests? Why would GOD need so many? The 144,000 are "blood" descendants of Abraham, they are not "spiritual" Israelites like you have been taught.

  You believe that we should NOT talk about Watchtower teachings and practices on Jehovahs-Witness.net, and you're calling me "sarcastic" and "rude" for pointing out this forum as the exact place to discuss such things? That's called "argumentum ad hominem". You're changing the subject to launch a personal attack on my character.

If it helps you to relieve anxiety and stress then talk about the W.T.S. My point was that it will do you no good, they will continue despite what anyone says. Many of you on here still follow their teachings in hopes that they might provide information about the end. Let me ask you this, would GOD have chosen a "worldy" organization to be His representative? They have acquired a great deal of wealth in real estate, and personal goods. Why do you donate money to them? It is better to feed your neighbor when they are lacking monies for simple sustainance.

  Great thread Flipper. I agree with Billy and Hopscotch. I didn't think I'd finish school because it was so drummed into us about the generation and 1975. I still believe in Jehovah, just not in men!! I wish I could find the truth...
