As a former elder of almost 20 years and later being put on trial for disagreeing with the WT, I strongly believe this was real and not staged. My meeting with the committee (which included a brother from Bethel who was sent in to replace one of the local elders) went almost like that. I had earlier written a letter to the Society asking about the Mexico - Malawi double standard. The reply I got at one of my hearings was "Why should the Society have to answer your question. You're not the faithful and discreet slave". So that is typically the approach they take because they know they cannot answer your questions. For any doubters about the genuiness of this recording I suggest you listen to the recording of a committee hearing with Rick and Laverne Townsend. You can download it at freeminds.org.

Sounded authentic to me, they (the Elders) of course were homed in on his feelings about the WTBTS from what family members said, their mind was pretty much made up. If he was trying to avoiding disfellowshipping all he could have said was everyone was lying about it all and he had never said any of those things he was accused of and lied through his teeth and would have had to say exactly what they wanted to hear.

This was real. As far as I know they still haven't gotten around to deleting me yet. I haven't been on any so-called apostate committee's, however the society tries hard to avoid having us have it go down this way because it's tougher to prove. This meeting will go down as nothing more than "Bro X is no longer one of JW's" and filed w/the Society as "disasociated".

If I had been the guy involved I would have said "Yes, I want to be reproved, but by God's Word, the Bible. Not you. Even Moses knew that he'd have to have a sign to give to Israel to prove what he had to say was from Jehovah otherwise he'd have been blown off or stoned. If you guys can show me a sign, then I might listen, otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to have scripture."

Russell: So are you a witness? Are you one of Jehovah's Witnesses or...?

    John: Yeah.

    Russell: Are ya?

    Russell: In good standing, or...?

    Jonathan: Absolutely.

Is this supposed to be from a JC meeting? "In good standing"? Now if I ever read a fake, here it is!

on a side note, I really loved (not) this weeks WT study.

their word to the annointed: "stay out of the way of the faithful and discreet slave, you're not/we are!"
