Just to correct, Christians believe in "One God", their understanding of that God is what is at variance with Judaism.

TD can you give us the clif notes version, or you BTS, please and thank you.
In an extremely small nutshell, the author, with the cooperation of the Catholic church researched the evolution of today's orthodoxy from early church history. Much of the book has to do with the clash between Athanasius and Arrius, development of the concept of homoousios, the hereasy of Sabellianism, etc.
TD,
So its a "chronology" of how the doctrine came to be?
PS, here is an extensive article on the subject. Hope it helps. http://www.christian-thinktank.com/trin02.html
They just have a better understanding of His nature as the light got brighter
Now where have I heard that before?
It's laid out in a chronological fashion. The author is Jewish and makes an honest effort (IMHO) not to take sides when explaining why early Christian thinkers drew the conclusions they did.
Mad Dawg,
Thanks for that link :)
Sounds like an interesting read TD.
